Well done on booking your flights Netty. You won't be far behind us. We fly into Miami on the 11th :thumbsup2

We lived in Florida for a year (long fulfilled dream!) just outside Fort Lauderdale and travelled around Florida a lot.

Loved Key West - take the hop on hop off tram tour to get a feel for it as you have only a short time there. On the drive back up, stop off at The Bass Pro Fishing store on Islamorada especially if it is the weekend. At the back they have a lovely restaurant overlooking the ocean (you can also eat at a restaurant upstairs and sit on a verdanda with fabulous views). At the weekend they used to have a man singing playing acoustic guitar. When we visited it was a perfect moment of 'Wow are we really here'.

Naples is beautiful and probably our favourite place apart from WDW. Beautiful beaches and very pretty town. Tin City in Naples is good for quirky shopping (nice restaurant overlooking the river opposite) and there used to be a place called Village at Venetian Bay that has changed its name (don't know to what) that was gorgeous upscale shopping on an intricate pier like complex.

Also loved Venice and went hunting for ancient Shark's teeth on the beach - still have loads!

We are not big foodies - love love love Bahama Breeze as a tropical restaurant (even though it's a change) and if you get a chance to go an Original Pancake House you should!!

Sounds fab, have you booked your hotels of are you booking as go.

There are some beautiful places along the gulf coast, a few of our favourites are Naples, Boca Grande and Siesta Key.

Chris we haven't booked any hotels yet, I have been trawling through numerous sites, but its difficult to know where to stay as I don't know how close anywhere is..:confused:and some of the prices per night..well....

same here, was holding out for the end of June for a sale with va, but then realised it would be a nightmare trying to get to key west- we had only 2 options with va, either fly man to heathrow to miami to the keys or man to mco stay over 1 night then fly to keys.. so in the end we had a look at delta, man to atlanta to key west- much better and quicker, oh and not forgetting a hell of a lot cheaper! va at the mo are asking over a grand for our dates:confused: and thats not even getting us to key west..
good luck alyson on getting your flights sorted.. my sil is a terrible flyer, she once put diesel into her car instead of petrol on the run up to her hol, she now swears on using kalms a few days before she flies-thank god they work!
