If all goes as planned, I should be going back to DL by the end of March. I havent been there since 2003, so its been awhile. I thought now would be the best time to get some much needed advice about my trip from you Dis vets.

It is just going to be myself and my GF. We will be going at the very end of March, like the last week. So I had a few questions I was hopeing to get some help with.

First off, How is DL at the end of March? Hows the Weather? Crowd? And whats going on with the Attractions then? Hopefully this will be a nice time to go (With my schedule I really dont have a choice).

How is the Drive from Sac to Amaheim? Luckily 98% of my drive will be via I-5? How is the traffic on I-5? (This is something which really bothers me). If my calculation are correct, I should be arriving in Anaheim around 2:00pm-3:00pm. How is traffic then?

I will be staying at an "Across the Street" hotel (on S. Harbor Blvd) and I was wondering, how is it staying across the street? I mean, is the walk ok? Especially at night, is it lit up well? Dont have to worry about being mugged do I? And how is it trying to actually get across the street? Is there tons of traffic on S. Harbor?

Any other advice to make my LONG AWAITED trip better? :flower3:

Thats all I can think of to ask for now. Im sure as soon as I log off, I'll think of something else to ask. But oh well.

Thanks for the help! :thumbsup2

I am SO happy to FINALLY be going back to DL!!! :woohoo: This is going to be AWESOME!!!:cool1:

Hello,

I can't answer all of your questions but I'll have a go... :thumbsup2

It depends on where "across the street" you'll be staying as to how the walk is. I'm going to be staying at the Park Vue Inn in early March and it is literally across from the entrance. There's a big crossing at the entrance to the parks so traffic shouldn't bother you if you wait to cross there. I've heard from some people that waiting to cross can take longer then the walk itself from some hotels...

I think Spring Break starts soon after I leave - I leave on the 10th - and I'm not sure when it finishes. The Spring Break people do make it busier, but I'm not sure by how much.

 I'm not really much help am I?

It will be very crowded because of Spring Break. It's best to arrive at least 30 min early in the morning and use FastPass as much as possible. A couple good things about going during a busy time is that most attractions will be up (It's a Small World will be down for its 10 month rehab) and entertainment will be going in full swing.

As for getting "mugged" on Harbor. The walk is fine and you certainly won't be alone. There are probably just as many people (maybe more) staying at those hotels as there are at the Disney hotels. It's also relatively well lit in most places.

Hey, thanks for your feedback!

Jeez, I hope its not too busy during that final week of March. :scared1:

:surfweb:

And I'd really like to find out about the weather. I dont want to show up un prepared.:guilty:

Otherwise, thanks guys! :cloud9:

Is the Super 8 Motel at the Park/ Convention Center whithin reasonable walking distance from the front gate? Is it a good hotel to stay at for a Week+?

Well, if you're talking the week after Easter (on March 23), then it's going to be super-packed. The weeks before & after Easter are the most crowded Spring Break weeks. Think insanely packed! :scared1: Any way you could wait until late April or early May? I think you'd find the crowd level much more enjoyable?

The weather can still be cool, so be prepared. We've been in jackets/hats/gloves before in March, but then we're from TX, so it doesn't take much for us to be cold. It can also be very, very nice!

That is the week I'll be going. Oh great!:sad2: I guess the positive way to look at it is that most ride will be up and running and not down for Refurb.popcorn:: Thanks for the good news mareed. :rotfl:

Otherwise, does anyone have any opinions on that Super 8 motel? If it is worth staying there because its cheaper? And is it within reasonable walking distance?

Have you seen this map? http://www.geocities.com/ashpsyche/DisneylandLinkMap.html

We drove by a super8 on the way in last September, and it just looking painfully far away. But I don't know if it is.

Someone around here found some great deals at the Motel 6, which is back "behind" the hotels on Harbor (way over on the right in that map), and people have said it's walkable. The person staying there said they've been there before and it's decent, too!

I-5 around 2 or 3 will be much better than I-5 around 4:30 on. LA traffic is always a treat no matter when you come through ;) . Some days are just better than others.

As for weather at the end of March, it should be beautiful, like high 70's mid 80's during the day, and cooler like 50's or 60's. Unless some freak cold snap comes through.

I love spring time in Anaheim!! Enjoy your trip!

Here's another map that shows the "walking distance" motels, and Super 8 is not one. http://www.accommodationsneardisney.com/default.asp
That's not to say you can't walk, but it's definitely further away than most would walk. Sorry to be the bearer of more bad news. :goodvibes But it's better to have realistic expectations up front, I think.

As long as you have a general plan and know your way around the parks, you should be fine even with the crowds. We were there New Years week, and it was packed, but we still had a great time. And it would have to be easier to get around with just 2 adults and no children.
