Finally Adding on Points!!!!

So, we just got back from the Dolphin on Sunday. We had a great trip, but one night when we were sitting out on the balcony, my mom turned to me and said "I really miss my one bedroom at the Beach Club." Then the night before we went home, we walked over to the Beach to look at the decorations and have a drink at Martha's Vineyard. My mom looked at us and said "OK, we can go on the waitlist to get more points. I never want to stay anywhere else again."

WOOOOHOOO!!!! Finally.

My dad called our guide Megan Moriarty first thing yesterday. She only works Friday through Sunday now. So now we have to wait til Friday. When we talked to her earlier she said she would help us through the process and it shouldn't be too long of a wait. We only have 190 points though, so we're looking to add a lot on to get ten days in July in a one-bedroom.

Has anyone had any experience adding on at the Beach Club with an April use year? Any advice?

Yay, congrats!

When we did our BCV points a couple months ago it was not too long of a wait. I would say maybe 4 to 6 weeks tops. Ours is a February UY.

Thanks guys. A 4-6 week wait sounds wonderful! We already have our July trip booked for a studio. (On 2008's points. We're a year ahead. ) If we do get the add on quickly, we can't use it right away to change July's reservation, can we?

No experience adding on (yet ), but I just wanted to say that Megan is our guide too . She was very helpful when we were looking at an exchange to Cancun (we ended up renting out some points and going to Key West instead ~ great trip with DH and DS ).

It sounds as if you've borrowed your 2008 points for a 2007 reservation, so even if you got your add on points, your 2008 points could not go back into 2008 and would have to be used in 2007. Does that make sense? But you could use your add on to stay longer

You're right. We did use 2008 points to book 2007. I can definitely stay longer in 2007.

We spoke to Megan yesterday and went on the waiting list for anywhere from 80-120 points. She said it could be anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. Keeping my fingers crossed!

That's great! We decided after our trip in October to add on more points at BCV too. I called our guide on November 1st but haven't heard anything yet. She told us it could take anywhere from 2 days to 9 months. We have a February use year and want 50-60 more points.

There is a thread on the DVC operating board that has a list of people wanting to add on points and how long it has taken them to get their points. I'm sorry that I don't know how to post a link.
