Finally a restaurant in Disney that has bread* !!!

No, there is a bread team of pastry chefs. They just make the bread. They haven't brought them back yet.
Besides finding workers, I also have heard that with distancing you can't have as many "chefs in the kitchen." I can see where most people would want chefs for entrees over bread---although I am not one of them😁

I think the no bread excuse is kind of bizarre. Does it mean they don't have bakers? It's not that big of a deal to slice bread is it...

I mean those restaurants all had bread when we went the end of August.
So this is interesting. We went to Blue Bayou on August 21 and there was no bread service. But our server said it was coming back ā€œsoon.ā€ So you had it after 8/21? And now it’s gone again? So odd!

That's what they told us the first time when we went for dinner in June. Back then there were strict OSHA rules about distancing in kitchens. I don't think that's still an issue at this time.

Tired of Disney and other places using the excuse of the virus. Disney CM’s can tell you to take up every available space in line and pack the rides but they can’t bring back other areas such as housekeeping and trams. I call pure BS. They either can’t get help or they’re trying to save on labor costs. Maybe a combination of the two.

Ya, I see cast members huddled together and standing near hundreds of people passing by them. I’m not sure social distancing is a thing at all with staff or guests.

That said, they could have odd OHSA rules where a kitchen could only have like 10 people because of square footage but a ride queue could have 300 people because of square footage even though all those people are being funneled into the same area.

I suspect it's more difficult to get CMs back now. There are lots of options for other jobs that pay more and may not require commuting etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they're short staffed, but I suspect they could fix that if they paid better. Currently, it seems like they've chosen to short both those paying and being paid than put in the extra money to enhance things for the public and employees. However, there are a lot of factors like employee contracts, unions, etc that undoubtedly mean it's not as simple to do as it sounds.

When I’m at the chefs counter and they ask what my likes/dislikes are to build my menu I’ll mention I like bread and then just pause and look at the chef 🤣
Kind of had a similar experience. I finally had to ask and that's when Chef Sutton told me they aren't currently doing it.

We were talking to a manager at Napa Rose and he said they've been having trouble getting and keeping kitchen staff.

I was looking at the Disney jobs listing yesterday out of curiosity and it looks like there are a lot of cook/specialty cook type jobs but they mostly seem to be PT, but wanting full availability. And the pay seems to range from about $15.60 up to $21.50 for most of them and they want years of experience, plus schooling, etc. Some of them are offering a sign-on bonus of $1000-1500 but it's paid in parts and the first payout isn't until after 60 days.

My local taco place (a few miles east of DLR) is hiring cooks at $18.50 (for no experience but willing to learn and work hard) to $22.50 for experienced and that seems to be full time.

Disney is definitely not paying what they need to to get people hired.

We had it on the 26th - I distinctly remember my daughter have 2 pieces as she asked for it. Maybe though I'm losing my mind & mixing up restaurants?

I agree with you. Even In N Out pays more than Disney. That should be embarrassing for Disney. Also, that ice cream place down Harbor, Joe's, starts people at like $18-20 and they get tips there too, as well as benefits, no experience required. That's where I go for my Dole Whip since they swirl the pineapple with vanilla soft serve there. Imagine dispensing Dole Whips all day at Disneyland for far less. Who'd take it?

I bet if Disney posted jobs with starting wages at $25/hr, they'd have to fight off potential employees with a stick.

They are not going to be able to get away with underpaying much longer.

My impression is that loads of people go to work for Disney because they like the company or perks like park access so Disney can get them for cheap. The Disney specific perks can be worth upwards of $2,000 a year if it can substitute for a Magic Key for yourself and a few tickets for friends and family. With instagram and showing off to friends, some people may put a lot of value on being able to attend CM events like yoga in front of the castle. But eventually, many people discover the company is not that great to work for and they'd much rather get better wages elsewhere.

If Disney is doing any kind of social distancing these days, they forgot to tell the CMs for the HM and RotR!! Packed us in those little spaces like sardines!

I’m here 8 days and make sure to always have table service booked for lunch and dinner so I did two lunches over there and two dinners. Disney doesn’t have as many good table service locations as DCA, so BB gets loaded up a bit more. Did Cafe Orleans once as well for the 3 cheese monte cristo…

I’ve also done (or will do) Lamp Light Lounge, Magic Key Terrace, Carthay Circle (restaurant for dinner and Alfresco for lunch a couple times.) As an adult with no kids, I tend to live it up and go heavy on the sit down nice meals.

Even squeezing one chef’s counter in on Saturday at Napa Rose… I love that so much I can’t wait!
Refresh my memory.. chef tables for NP drops first of the month? They gave me a card for the number to call to reserve but I can’t remember when the reservations drop?
