Final Race Day Instructions

Thanks Charles - I just noticed that they were on the Disney Sports site but wasn't sure if they had been there long and didn't want to post if it was "old" news.

Are we supposed to get anything in the mail for the marathon weekend?

Thanks Charles, Is anyone else having a hard time getting it to open? I get to the link and when I try to download the instructions it just freezes.

I have the goofy instructions but would like to see the 1/2 and fulls as well.

Thanks
Kim

Gottem now. :confused3

Got all excited that the corral info was there.:scared1: but doesn't show what numbers are in each....booohisssss

This is my first marathon, if the blue course just a few steps longer then the red???? Just curious why blue starts further back?

From the bib number lists I don't know if it's going to be strictly by the numbers. Does anyone know the pace cutoffs for the half corrals?

No, Disney quit using snail mail a few years back. You will receive these instructions again at the expo.

If you look at the first 3 miles of both courses you will see that the red course goes much further down Epcot Drive that the Blue. Then the Red couse comes all the way back to the centerline of the park before heading up the parking road itno the park while the blue cousre heads directly into the park after it turns and heads over the parking lot bridge. That is offset just a bit by the Blue course going around World Showcase early in the race. It all balances out at mile 3.4.

Really if you wanted to make a case for equality, you would ask Disney to load both sides of the race from the center median of the road. The red course must walk around the blue corrals to get to their corrals.

Actually it is by bib number..... Disney has not leaked the what numbers are headed for what corrals. Looks like that will be a expo surprise.

Good. That makes the most sense. The half bib thread had several speedy folks over 50000. Sounds like lost proof of time trouble.

Sitting and waiting patiently.

Thanks for posting this, the more I read about goofy the more excited and nervous I get! I have a random question; so my driving licence expires on 12/30/09 and I can't get a new one due to visa reasons, so I have a UK driving licence which has my photo on it or I have my passport, now I am sure my passport will be fine but I don't really want to take it to Orlando with me because I can't get my new visa without it and then I will get kicked out the country, so I really can't loose it but I am worried that they won't accept my UK one, because it kinda looks fake (it isn't but I can't use it at bars because people think it is) does anyone have any experience with this?

Ok sorry for hijacking the post :)

Looks like they haven't changed the corrals at all from last year. Maybe they will change the order of the corrals for the marathon. A fastest, D 2nd fastest, B 3rd fastest, E 4th, etc. If not, I'll start in D again for the marathon - right Charles.

My number is well over 50,000 for the half so I might start back at Pop Century if they don't change me:)

enjoy,
Duane

Thanks for posting Charles!

I've never used the D tag before. The instructions seem pretty straight forward but I'm worried about messing it up and maybe having it come off my shoe during the race.

I was also wondering if there were buses back to the monorail resorts (Poly, CR, GF). Last year, the climb up to the monorail platform was a little much after the race.

I have used the D tag before in local races and it seems to have pretty good adhesive so you don't have to worry about it coming off. If you put it on the way it shows in the final instructions you should have no problems with it. Best part is after the race you don't have to stop for them to cut it off - you can keep on going through the chute to get your mylar blanket and hard earned medal.

As far as bus transportation to monorail resorts I am not sure - but I am sure someone knows the answer.

I hope they stick with the traditional ABCDEF rather than the ADBECF they had in 08. Regardless, I am headed back to at least D if not further back. I did a marathon pace run yesterday and I am not running single didget paces this year - no matter how hard you pull.

D tags are pretty much bullet proff as long as you intall in your room and not on race morning. They tend to not work as well in high humidities - it's not the stickyness but the ablity to pull the protective tab that is the issue. Follow directions and when you get your bib at the expo, place that envolope in the race booklet you will get with your shirt so the electronics in the tag do not crease.

Yes there are busses to the monorail resort BUT you will be on more than one bus. There are no marathon or Disney busses to these reosrts from Epcot. Most expediant trip is from Epcot to DTD then DTD to your resort. OK this is a little tongue in cheek. Really the monorail ramp is a lot less stressful than climbing down the bus stairs.

My source won't release as too many people knew about it last year so you will have to wait until you get your bib at the expo!

What is the point of keeping it all hush hush? Kinda weird.

It's Disney. They have never actually offically posted a list. It's kind of magic to find out when you pull your bibs from the envelope.

It doesn't take much 'imagination' to look at bib numbers from last year's corrals and knowing they added 5k to each race and figure out within a corral where you are located this year.
