My husband and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary December 30-January 7 with a combined trip to San Diego (first for New Year's) and then to Disneyland for the last four days (including our true anniversary date of January 3). We've never been to San Diego and we've only been to Disneyland once for an evening and neither one of us remembers too much about it. Been doing research for months now. Both of us are Disney World veterans. Been there well over 40 times. So we're looking forward to going to the original park. Here's what I came up with and why.
Arrive Disneyland January 3 from San Diego (we will have a rental car). I booked us into the Howard Johnson's with a Disneyland view. The reasoning is it's our anniversary and the one thing I really want is a balcony and something to look at. I know the Howard Johnson gets some negatives because of the walk to the entrance of the parks. Trust me, I've walked much farther at Disney World to get to Epcot. Distance is not a big deal for us.
We'll get a four day pass and spend that afternoon just walking through both parks and checking to see where everything is located. For our anniversary dinner, we're going to do Granville's. I know Napa Rose gets high marks for the romance factor but after looking at the menus, we will be much happier at Granville's.
The only other thing I will plan is lunch at Blue Bayou because that's very unique to Disneyland.
I know the differences in the shared attractions and the ones that are unique to Disneyland Resort. With four days, we should be able to see just about everything we want. So those are the plans as of today. It'll be interesting to see if that what we end up doing!
