final payment question

My final payment is due on Aug. 25th. My husband has a lot of paid time off funds built up so he had cashed out some to pay our balance, but when the deposit was made there was a mistake and they did not cash out the right number of hours. It will take a few weeks to get the rest in. I called Disney Travel today to ask if we could lower our tickets to one day base tickets so I could afford to go ahead and pay off the balance due, and could upgrade the tickets when the rest of the money comes in. He said that I was fine to leave it alone and that I actually had until Sept 8 to pay off the package, at which point they would send a letter saying that reservation could be canceled. He advised me against changing the package now because I would end up paying $50 change fee and $10 processing fee to downgrade and then again when I call back to upgrade. He assured me that nothing would be done with my reservation until after Sept. 8th. Should I be worried about losing ressie or do you think its ok to wait it out. I should be able to pay in full by Sept. 3rd.

I don't have any experience with that. We always just paid when when due. Can you charge it to a CC and then just pay it off? Disney Visa has 6 months zero interest as well. I would want something in writing stating the fact and not want to risk it. I don't know how WDW works if you pay partial pmts when due in full.
 
As long as there is payment on your package and you've called them and the CM noted it on your res it will not cancel until the 30 day mark.

The CM was correct to warn you about change fees to save you those costs. Since the majority of the trip is paid Disney will work with you, but 30 days seems to be their cancel date.

I've have a few clients each year that for some reason or another cannot make the full payment when due. As long as the res is noted and payment is applied by the 30 day mark there's been no problem, though your trip documents might be sent a few days later than they would have been.

After searching through the boards I found several others that forgot and paid late, or called and explained their situation to a cm and were told that it would not cancel until 30 days out. I feel a little better. The majority of the amount due has been paid,and I will be able to pay the balance before the 30 day out mark. I will call back before the 45 day mark just to verify that this is noted on my account. Thanks again for your response!
 

This is good to know. I'm suppose to pay our package off on Wednesday. I would have used our debit card... but it was just cancelled. Someone was using our number and charging my banking account. So, I have to wait 5- 10 business days for a new one. I can't make the payment until it arrives. Unless, I send a check in? I'm sure Disney will understand when I call... it's going to be a little late. :confused3 No biggie, if you ask me. :rotfl:

*I was told as long as you have a deposit, it won't cancel for 30 days.
 
We totally had to pay late this year. I called the CM and explained what was going on. They were so nice. Our pay off date was August 16th...we didnt pay the full balance until August 22. They told me to just make sure I pay it off before the 30 day mark. We didnt have any issues!
