Couldn't get a good non stop flight out of Providence So I grabbed one with a stop in Baltimore.
Arggg, one more chance to lose my luggage…
1.5 hour wait for my flight out to MCO… seems about right? grab lunch at the airport?
Will the 2nd plane be empty or could there already be passengers on it.

I didn't get early boarding as I have a 4 year old with me and should board with family between A and B ..????

Does a non nonstop flight factor into purchasing early boarding strategy??

Would the early boarding apply to each flight segment??

We have always flown nonstop….

With an 1.5 layover it would have to be a fast lunch. Remember by the time you land and get your stuff and get off the plane you will spend about 10-15 minutes just getting off the plane depending on where you sit. Your next flight will begin boarding 30 minute before take off so you will have less than an hour layover. Also factor in a bathroom break.

Yes there could already be people on your plane when it lands in BWI that are also going to MCO so those people will remain on the plane when it lands at BWI. Yes the EBCI price of $12.50 each way will cover both the outbound and connecting flights.

I've had a 1.5 hour layover in Baltimore before, which is really only about 30-40 minutes in the airport by the time you get off the plane, walk to your next gate, and can start boarding. You'd likely have time to grab something quick and make it to-go. In my experience, every time I've had a Baltimore layover with Southwest, my next gate is in the same concourse. Not sure if this is always the case there. We've found the airport pretty easy to navigate there.

It's possible other folks could be already on the plane, continuing on. We've had a stop in Baltimore before without having to get off.

I did a PIT-BWI-MCO one stop a couple of years ago. 43 of us stayed onboard when we stopped in Baltimore. We were also allowed to change seats once they took a head account. A lot of people spread out in the front. So when the first people got on in Baltimore, there were not a lot of empty seats together in the front. Not sure about the back, I moved up to around row 3.

Please note EBCI is not early boarding.

Yes, it's very likely the plane you board at BWI will already have passengers aboard; do you actually change planes there, or is it just a stop?

Info indicates its another flight number so I assume its a different plane.
Sounds like just enough time to grab a quick bite ?
Would EBCI be a good idea? seeing that there may be people already on the 2nd plane…
Hoping to sit DW, DD and 4yr GD together in one row. ( GD in isle seat ) I would sit behind GD in Isle seat in row behind her.
We rented a Cares <sp> harness and I will strap it around the seat in front of me ( GD Seat ) That way if the strap interferes with the tray, it won't be bothering a stranger behind my GD seat… Hopefully we can get this seating arrangement on both planes…
With a 4 year old we should board between the A and B passengers.
Is it OK for all 4 of us to board as a family? I could see where they would just let the MOM and 4 year old board as family?

EBCI is always a good idea if you have a strong desire to sit together. Purchasing EBCI is your best chance for that.

Family boarding rules differ depending on the city and sometimes even the flight. It typically occurs between the A and B group, and most times I've seen it, it's families traveling with children under 4 and immediate family only. If your airports follow suit, that means the child and her mother would be able to board, and you as the grandparents would board at your respective numbers.

No clue about BWI, but be careful about hedging your bets on Family Boarding. Have never had it offered on a flight to MCO (too many families would qualify...). If an adult next to the child is the most important, I would buy ECBI for those two.

I would buy EBCI on you and your wife. Hopefully that gives you an A boarding. Go straight towards the back of the plane and take 2 aisle seats. Then hope no one tries to sit in the first window until your DD and child boards.

Out of MCO, I have yet to see them let grand parents or other relatives board with family boarding. Several times they made announcement stating family boarding is immediate family only.

OK, glad I asked.. I have no problem with only immediate family.. hadn't thought about the fact its all families going to MCO…

Will have to rethink this… the one thing I dislike about SW..

I like the Baltimore stop.... we always head straight to Chipotle and grab a meal (OH YUM) while waiting...If it was a short layover just order to go and bring it on the next flight.....it's right next to the SWA gates..... We stopped there 4x last year on different trips....

Yes, at least Baltimore is on the way.. a cheaper option was to fly through Chicago…. heading in the wrong direction.. more hours in the air.
Gee, if we had more time we could head out to see whats happening in Baltimore…….

still debating the EBCI.

They are not going to let a 4 year old sit alone, with or without EBCI. I can guaranty you that. If there aren't two seats together, they will ask for volunteers until they get two seats together. If its a flight out of BWI, volunteers are plenty.

Why do people always say only families go to Orlando? Just not true; for one thing, it's a huge convention town. I have been there with my husband many times for work and not had any children on my flights.

My boyfriend and I fly out of BWI when we fly to MCO. There are not many family boarders in BWI. It's flying out of MCO that has the most family boarders. I would still definitely purchase EBCI.
