I reserved an Avis car rental directly through their website. I arrived at the rental counter and when the CS rep pulled up my reservation, he said “Oh, you’re a Preferred member, but your number isn’t on your reservation”. Then he added it and sent me out to my car in the garage.
Once I returned the car, I was emailed the receipt and noticed it was $100 more than my confirmed quote. I am assuming now that once he added my Preferred number to my reservation (which I didn’t ask him to do, and he didn’t ask me if I wanted him to, and he didn’t say it would increase my rate), it changed my rate
I have called Avis twice with no solution. (First rep said a supervisor would call me back and I waited a week, but no call. I called back and the second rep said to send screenshots of my receipt and confirmation, which I did, only to get a duplicate email receipt of my final charge, which is still $100 more).
Can anyone point me in the direction of who I can contact to rectify this? Has this happened to others?
