Hello all. I had heard that occasionally films are released early on the cruise. Has anyone experienced this? Just curious if they're talking "early" as in an hour before its land showing, or a matter of days?

Thanks!

Midnight on release day. So like when it turns Friday.

Mostly it's similar to land-based theatres. One of the DisneyNature films, maybe Born in China, was shown early as it coincided with Earth Day.

For the most part movie premiers onboard are at 12:01 am the day the movie opens on land.

On occasion, they have run a premiere the night before (like 2-4 hours earlier). But not days before.

Nutcracker was released on the Magic Oct 28 sailing on November 1st. Our cruise director said they got special permission to release it a day early so we could see it. It was shown at 6pm, then had two more showings the next day.

Exceptionally, some films (mainly non-blockbusters) have been shown a few days early onboard but do not expect it. As others have said, it is usually at 12:01AM or sometimes at 8 or 10PM the day before the film opens on land. We had a premiere at sea of Wrinkle in time at 10PM the day before.

The few (rare) times I've read of premieres happening more that the night before the actual premiere, the ship is doing sea days between the time of the showings and actually stopping in a port. The theory being that people can't tell others that they went to a premiere early (since they aren't on land). I don't know how true that is.

We were on the Fantasy that same week. Nutcracker 'premeared' at 11pm on Thursday Nov 1st in the Walt Disney theatre and was then shown several different times in the Buena Vista Theatre on Friday the 2nd (we disembarked on Saturday the 3rd).

The only movie I heard of previewing early was on a dvc cruise a nature movie. If the movie official opening timeus Friday but theatres on land is allowed to start it on Thursday. Than they could show it on Thursday.

They always say that they got special permission. Nutcrackers opened up in theatres on November 1st on land. So they didn’t get special permission. They just say that to make it seem more special.yes the official opening date was November 2 but theatres were allowed to show it on November 1st.

We have sailed twice when a Adventures/Marvel movies were released. We were able to see them 12:00 AM the day it was released. It's really Magical to see it on a Disney ship. On our next cruise we will be able to see Avengers 4 — May 3, 2019!
