Does anyone know the dates of the filming? I would like to avoid MK on that day if possible!!!

I always thought that they filmed it on Christmas morning. I guess it makes more sense to do it another day and post-air it.

First weekend in Dec, Friday and Saturday, Sunday if needed. Good place to avoid.

I never knew that about the first weekend! I'm SO glad I went mid-December last year! Looks like I really dodged a bullet.

We'll be there the first weekend in December. Going to MK on Saturday, we have 2 ADR's that day so we can't switch days. I am nervous about going on the day of taping. Is it crazy in the entire park or are most people at the taping?

I have heard that most of the crowd is around the taping on Main Street and once you get past that the rest is not bad at all. We are there from 11/27-12/6 so we ahve read up on this and on the Pop Warner group that is there later in the week.

On Friday, they start taping the other shows in MK....in front of the Castle and such. So, the crowds are large on Main St up to the Castle. The rest of the park isn't bad at all. On Sat they start the parade taping. Main St is a zoo!!! You can cut through the shops though since the sidewalks are not easily passable. The rest of the park isn't too bad. I think the worst is getting to FantasyLand...the was miserable last year on Sat afternoon.
I was there for the taping on Friday morning last year....I'm quite glad I won't be arriving until the following weekend this year!!!

Are they taping during the MVMCP or is it during the day?

during the day. to make it look like christmas day.the 70 ft christmas tree is down by the castle til after the taping.

Yikes! We better get there even earlier than I thought. We have CRT ADR's. I guess I should plan the extra time to try to get through the crowd.

We were in MK last year on both Sat. and Sun. because that's how we'd made our plans/ADRs in advance, and it really was manageable. As has been said, you are routed through the shops on Main St. -- if you didn't already know it, the shops on the left-hand side (as you face castle) are all connected, so you can walk all the way through to Caseys and exit, turning left, over to Adventure land. I agree that Fantasyland was busy, but we happily made use of the "back" of the part (Tomorrowland, Frontierland, Adventureland) with no problems. We are going for the same week this year and have decided not to go to MK until later in the week -- just because we want to be able to walk right down Main St. to the castle when we first arrive, but please do not worry if you've already made your plans (and just think about if you do want to try to make a time when you can have your Main St. experience at a different point in your trip).

Would love more information regarding the taping...my DD8 made me promise her that we would take her this year to the taping. I have told her over and over again how crazy, busy it will be and she still wants to go. We have made ressies to accomodate her wishes but I am scared to death that we will
regret doing this. Please give me some encouragement so that I can let myself relax and start looking forward to our trip 12-1 to 12-6 AKL. Also, we will have our DD3 with us too. Nightmare on Christmas at WDW, LOL.
Thanks!

I'm planning on being there during the taping. I also plan on being at Disneyland while they tape their portion of it (last year it was the Friday before Thanksgiving--hope they do it the same this year). This way, I can be at 3 places at once on Christmas Day--at Disneyland, at Disney World, and at home watching it all on tv.

What about seeing Regis & Kelly filming the WDW parade? Any tips on that? I would love to see them there.

I was there on the Saturday of taping in 2004. I never knew that the parade wasn't taped on Christmas morning like they make it appear to be. I was trying to get from Buzz Lightyear to CPC to see if I could get dinner reservations. I got stuck on the sidewalk but I didn't even know what was going on. Everyone was standing around and I was trying to figure out what they were looking at. It ended up being John Stamos and a few other actors but I don't remember their names. My daughter loves John Stamos but I couldn't get back to Buzz to tell her what was going on so I just stood there and watched the cars come down Main St. and he got out and greeted people, etc. It was very cool and I took pictures for my daughter because he was right next to me. After they finished the filming, I was able to cross again. We stayed the rest of the day and just avoided Main Street. I think it could be fun to spend SOME time in the thick of things.
