Filming Next Week?

I understand they are filming the Christmas program at WDW next week. Any tips, or anything we should know ahead of time to get a good spot to watch?

Well, I don't know that there will be any good spots to watch, it's all very confusing. This year, they had people sign up to be extra's. The extras were given a time slot. My time slot is Friday early morning, which starts at 7:00 am. We have to present the voucher at the gates and they will give us wrist bands and give us a spot. We are under the impression that Main Street will be completely roped off. They will lead regular visitors through the shops to get past Main or tell them to get on the train. So, I still think you will be able to see the taping, but as for a good spot, if they have Main blocked, you might not be able to get a "good" spot. Good luck to you!

They encourage people that are walking along to participate in the crowd scenes. There really won't be any empty spots on Main St. but you will be able to see what they are taping.

It won't be the whole parade that you see at one time. They may send the same float down the street many times before they do the next one.

Hi TJ, were they just signing up CMs as extras? Was this a volunteer thing, or did they pay you a bit? I'm not sure if we even want to spend a lot of time trying to watch, or even be in the filming, but it could be neat for a few hours to watch. Who are the 'stars' this year? And do you know if there are going to be concerts that they film for the show? My dd might like that. Thanks for the info.

No, actually, anyone could sign up. It was through Lightship TV. They had a link on the Annual Passholder's sight a while back, but all slots are filled as of right now. The "payment" is that anyone who is an extra gets free park admission and parking, which as an AP holder really doesn't matter to me, but it's nice for those who aren't. There is a thread somewhere here about the stars, but I can name a few, don't know if they'll be at WDW or DL though - Julie Andrews, Star Jones, Regis and Kelly of course, John O'Hurley, Aly and AJ, Cheetah Girls, Tiger Woods - that's all I can remember.

Thanks, very interesting. I like the part about sending in your own video. That's neat. However, this link/info makes it seem that entry to the park will be restricted on the day of the filming. Did anyone else get that from what was said about Passholders and CMs still being allowed in? If so, I'm glad we have an AP, as we are only coming down for 3 days.

The park is still open to everyone. Extras need to be there before the park opens if they are going for the morning session.

If you don't mind walking past the crowds on Main St. you will be fine.
