I cannot remember what I am to do with undeveloped film when traveling through the x ray machines at the airport? Is undeveloped film in a container okay to go through the machine?
What about my film when returning? I think I remember reading to have it "hand checked."
Thanks in advance for any information!:D

There is an airport screener on the Budget Board, you might want to ask over there.

I've run it through the x-ray, but this trip I think I will ask for hand check. I'm thinking the machines may be stronger now, but don't know for sure.

exposed or unexposed film should be in your carry on only, not in checked luggage. Anything up to and including 800 speed film should be fine in your carry on, but, having seen the cumulative effects of scans, I would opt to have it hand checked both ways regardless of the speed. Again NOT IN CHECKED LUGGAGE.

I take all of the film out of the boxes and plastic containers and put them in a ziplock bag. I put that bag in the front zippered compartment of my carryon so it is easy to get to when I get to the security lines. When I get to the screeners, I ask very nicely if they will hand check the ziplock bag because the film has already been thru the x-ray a few times. (not a lie, I always have film left over from previous trips) I have never had a problem with hand checks and the screeners have always complimented me on how I have the film for them to inspect. Sometimes they just look at it, other times they have taken the rolls out and wiped them with a cloth.
