Film Processing

Anyone know of the cheapest place to get film processing done? Walgreens is $7 a roll for single prints I think. I have have 32 rolls of film(some are one time use camera's). Some have pictures from 2005 our trip to Disney and Ft. Walton Beach and others have pictures from 2004 FDIC show in Indianapolis and others who knows? We put these in a bag and stored them in a closet when we got home back then and never got back around to getting them developed. Now that I have found the DIS boards I want to get then processed to see what's on them.

I have since switched to a digital camera and no long have to worry about buying film or having it processed.

Back when I did film, I used costco, they were the cheapest at that time.

The warehouse clubs - BJs, Costco, and Sams - are almost always the cheapest place to get film processed.

One thing I learned the hard way is to make sure that wherever and whenever I get my film processed, I made certain that the place did it in-house and didn't send it out. To do this I wound up just taking it to WalMart and paying the extra for 1-hour service, but that extra money was worth the peace of mind to me, knowing that my film wasn't going to leave the building. I also liked the instant gratification of getting my pics back fast, but that's just me.

You could always do them a few per week over the next month. You'll probably want to scan them after they're processed anyway, so doing just a few at a time and scanning them as you go will make it seem like less of a chore.

Costco can actually process them and put them on a CD for you all in one go, I would recommend that method, more than likely they can even put all of the rolls on one cd to save you a bit of money (if you want it that way that is).

For a few years, I had 12-15 rolls of undeveloped film in a bag left over from my film days. I was afraid there might be something spectacular on one of them so I didn't want to just discard them. I finally had them done and put to disc (at WalMart, where they would only do one disc per roll). What a disappointment! And so expensive!! Glad you made the jump to digital. Thanks for the replies, ashame there is not a Costco close to me. I think I am going to start taking them to Walgreen's or Walmart a couple at a time every couple weeks until they are gone. I know most of them are from our trip in 2005 so I would really like to get those and my wife thinks that there are a few with pictures of our youngest when he was still a baby on them. Don't think I will be disappointed after all most are from Disney and of my kids. Hoping to be a little surprised.

I was always afraid to make the switch because I go to the races a lot(stock car and drag racing) and never thought I cold take good pictures with a digital camera, I would use the digital for the close up pre-race stuff then my old Pentax K1000 for the races. But last July I found out other wise when my kids left the film at home and I had to use my old Kodak c330 the whole race. I have now upgraded to a Fuji Finepix s700 and it worked really good at the US Nationals drag races this past September.

If you have them just put them on a CD ask if they can do a high res CD. Many time they do a lower or med res and the files are barely good for 4x6 prints, if you are not going to get them printed.
