I want to stock up on film before we leave next month. I wanted to buy the best film possible. I want a film that will be good all throughout our trip. I need something that will work well with action shots, vivid color, good inside & outside at night, etc. I usually use Kodak 800 speed. Don't know what else is better. I'd like to stay with the Kodak family though. Just wondering what others have used in similar settings. :goodvibes

My personal preference is Fuji brand. I find that it has the brightest colors and makes those beautiful blue Florida skies and the bright greens and reds of the vegetation POP right out of the print.

By comparisoon, Kodak is crap. In 15 years of taking pics at WDW, I have never gotten a picture with Kodak film that didn't turn the bluest sky gray and make the sunniest day look overcast and dreary.

The reason for this is that Kodak film is specifically balanced for human skin tones, to smooth them out and make them look less red and blotchy. But this also mutes and washes out the brighter colors, which ruins outdoor WDW scenery.

Fuji, on the other hand, is balanced to make the brighter colors pop. No other film I've ever used makes the WDW colors look so bright and sharp as Fuji.

I use 400ISO for almost everything. Fuji 400ISO does a fabulous job in the bright Florida sunshine (as long as you have a camera that's smart enough to close down it's aperture), but is fast enough to get excellent indoor pics, either with flash or by long exposure.

But the best thing about Fuji film is that it's WAY cheaper than Kodak. Go to WalMart or Sam's Club and get multi-packs of Fuji 400 for 20% less than comparable Kodak film, and take much better pics with it, too.

What about SD cards? How should I carry these? TIA!!

Digital camera memory cards of all kinds can simply be left in your carry-on or camera bag and put on the belt. The x-ray scanner will not affect digital cameras or memory cards as they do film.

You might also want to look at lower speed films, 200 or 400. Higher speed films can be more sensitive to the x-rays at the air port and can also yield grainier pictures. It's been a while since I used film though and I know the technology on the high speed films has improved over time.

The high speed films have improved, but for outdoors when it's bright you'll be glad you used 100 for the best color.
