Fill in all available space- recently?

Any recent experiences of CM telling people to fill in all available space? Rumor is they are not supposed to do that anymore but need to check on if this is reality or not in the last couple of weeks. I have experienced it on many rides but haunted mansion before you go into the building is one of the most blatant examples I have experienced. Just checking to see if anyone has any very recent experiences of this changing (hopefully).
They were still saying it as of this past weekend.

It's probably a part of the CM's spiel, how much it is enforced could depend on location, crowd, even seating area ( actual spacing between people or obvious gaps ).

Some folks idea of personal space -cushion is a bit larger than others.

We were leaving MK once on the resort monorail. It wasn’t park closing or anything. Some people decided to make a single file line up the super wide (like 15’ wide) ramp up to the monorail. The lone employee up top was calling people to “fill the space” but no one was listening and some lady yelled at my daughter for walking past her. I gestured up to the guy and told her we were filling space but she was still super mad at us and kept glaring at us until the train came (which we were all easily fitting on anyway.)

The Entitlement - I’ve certainly seen it before, but G was astounded at the behavior of some folks. We all paid a ridiculous amount to be there… really, sir, you’re not better than the rest of us. Neither are you, ma’am. :sad2:

Seems like the "Idiots" are starting to become more visible.

They have to continue the practice SOME or queues would spill into the park. Also - it's a technique to judge the number of people and to speed up loading time.

Yes - I agree in some places its just silly - leave folks alone and let them have their space. I just ignore or glare at the CM's that become super demanding about filling in all the space. I'm also really good at hanging at the back or side of a crowd to not feel crammed in a crowd.

Service dogs can be trained to provide folks a space buffer, BTW.

It was still happening as of a few days ago. I heard it on multiple lines + shows. It has been about 2 years since our last visit and it was a lot more noticeable this time.

The worst was in Mickey's Philharmagic. They repeated over and over again to fill all the space, get closer together, this will be a sold out show, exc. We were packed like sardines waiting for the doors to open to the point where I had to push my way out to stand on the rim of people.

Disney expects and almost 'requires' you to have and use a smart phone.
That's the thing though YMMV, but my husband and I, when in the Parks, use the smartphones for a few things we really need to use them for (few required things from Disney) then put them away (mine in my purse or whatever bag I'm carrying and him in his pocket) and we truly pay attention and enjoy the Parks.

I'm with you! I appreciate having a phone but don't want to be attached to it all the time.

Bah... this is such a problem... Disney is telling all the disablities people they are not saying fill in the available spaces but in reality they are still doing it... and on top of that when we don't do it... we get glares or side comments from other guests thinking we are not paying attention. Bah... Disney needs to get clear on messaging... if they are not going issues das passes any more then they need to not be saying any of this... so many peoples disabilities get triggered by packing in small spaces including so many veterans who already have done enough for our country.

I wouldn’t be that miffed if they weren’t actively lying to people about it. Nobody expected Disney to change this protocol even with the large increase in DAS denials. To be specifically telling people on DAS interviews this is no longer practiced is just so wrong. Tell people the truth so they can plan accordingly, it’s not hard.

Yes! And this is exactly why I asked the question
