Filing for disability

Has anyone here filed for disability with Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? I have decided to file and am nervous about the interview. I know they will automatically deny me and I will have to appeal. I would like to hear any first hand accounts. Thanks.

I am disabled in NYS with Fibro as one of the reasons for the disability. All of my friends who filed with just Fibro have been denied... So sad that they don't consider it alone to be enough to file. Good luck. Sorry I couldn't be much more of help, other than make sure if there is any other problems that the doctors document it all for you. That will help.

Get a lawyer or advocate... With a condition not on their "list" (mine is not either), it is VERY hard!

it will depend on how it affects you and what is in your medical records. If you don't have at least 14 of the 18 tender points, it will be difficult to get a judge to approve you. Tender points are one of the only objective findings docs report for Fibro and Judges rely on them heavily to support your claims of other symptoms (like fatigue, pain, etc)

You can get approved with just Fibro, I have had many clients I have gotten approved with nothing else. But you can NEVER compare one SSA case to another as they are all different and unique, even within the same conditions.

I just wanted to tell you good luck and keep your chin up! I have fibro and CFS also along w/other things and know how much it can affect your life. Don't give up if they deny you and stay strong!
