We have back-to-back reservations at both LeCellier and California Grill. Don't want to get steak two days in a row - so which one should order the Filet from??? :cool1:

Also - just curious - does Victoria & Albert serve Filet and if so - how does it compare to the aforementioned?

You're going to get a variety of opinions but from more personal experience here, CG has the better filet.

And, why not try it at both places and see? My gf and I typically order different menu items and share a bit of each other's to be able to taste more things. :)

Both filets are good.

Le Celliers is paired with a mushroom risotto and a truffle butter I believe.

CG's is served with a teriyaki bbq sauce, mashed potatoes (can't recall the flavor) and baby zuchinni.

Victoria & Albert's is a prix fixe menu of $125 per person.

There are seven courses:

1. An amuse bouche, 3 or 4 small bite size tastes from the kitchen. When I went in Sept 2009 it was a cherry tomato and buffalo mozzarella caprese salad, a roma tomato sorbet, a fennel and tomato custard and "tomato paper" with olive oil poached octopus.

2. A cold appetizer. Our choices were sesame crusted seared tuna or proscuitto wrapped shrimp with melon.

3. A fish course. Choices were white king salmon with asparagus and bernaise or halibut with a corn ragout.

4. A hot appetizer. Duck three ways (breast, confit and sausage) with cherry sauce or poulet rouge with truffle duxelle and mushroom foam.

5. Entree. Lamb, Veal or Pork.

You can pay $35 for Australian Kobe tenderloin, but the portion is small, maybe 2 ounces. Not what I would consider a "filet"

You can also pay $80-90 for Wagyu striploin I think.

6. Pre-dessert. White Chocolate Gelato or Cheese platter

7. Dessert. Chocolate trio (souffle, ice cream and mousse pyramid), Caramelized Banana Gateau, Creme Brulee, Grand Marnier Souffle, Kona Chocolate Souflee, Meyer Lemon "purse"

The Kobe beef at V&A would rank, on a scale of 1-10, maybe a 15. Yes, it's that good.

The filets at Le Cellier, I would rank at about a 5 and the one at CG I would rank 2. I've had both and was not impressed with either, but my filet at CG had to be sent back for being overcooked and even the second one I got was still overcooked. I think the filets at Jiko and Flying Fish are much better than these two.

We love the filet from Le Cellier but were not thrilled with the filet from Cali Grill, the pork tenderloin was a million times better

I loved my Ostrich at California Grill & would look into getting that instead of the filet.

V&A's filet is an upcharge to Kobe Beef that is definately worth it. I had the Veal Entree in Dec after having done the Kobe beef every time before that and once you upgrade to that beef its hard to go back.

I have only been to the California Grill once and I didn't order the steak so I can't give an opinion on it. However, I'm sure I'm going to be in the minority with my opinion of Le'Cellier, but I personally believe the hype fails to measure up. I personally found the Le'Cellier to be a nicely themed Outback Steakhouse; good but not great. JMHO.

I had the pork tenderloin at CG, myself. Yes...it was amazing!

My gf had the filet, ordered Medium Rare, and it was cooked perfectly to order as well as another person in our party. The filet was even better than the pork!

WEll, I can't imagine having a reservation at LeCellier and getting anything other than steak . . . so maybe my plan will be to do the filet at LeCellier and this Pork Tenderloin at CG . . . thoughts?

Sounds like a plan.

Oh, and the Spicy Kazan Roll is a great appetizer. :thumbsup2

The Kobe beef at V&A isn't a fair comparison to LeCellier or California Grill. It's that much better.

If you are only doing one steak at Disney, I'd get the Kobe at V&A.

Just as an FYI, I think the posts about food are supposed to go on the Disney Restaurants board, found here. I'm not sure if people are aware this exists since this is the second day I've seen a food- or restaurant-related question on the Theme Parks board. Enjoy your meal.

ETA: You'll got lots more feedback there since the people who spend time there are the "foodies" of the DIS. The posters here tend to be more focused on rides, park touring, etc.

A theme park mod must have moved that thread over here, and I merged it into the OP's existing thread. (Just in case anyone is confused the the additional posts to the old thread)
