I got a digital camera for Xmas, but when I try to email a picture, it says the file is too big. I tried to save the pictures to a floppy, but only three pictures would fit on an entire floppy. Why is each picture file so huge? Is there a way to make the size of the file smaller?
Thanks for anything you can suggest.

There are 2 ways.

One, possibly your camera is on a high setting, and you can reduce your pictures by choosing a lower resolution and/or higher compression rate.

If it's already on that, or you want to keep the original pic at a higher resolution than what you are sending to someone else, you need an image manipulation program or something (you most likely got something with your camera) where you can open the picture up and then reduce the size that way.

Hope that helps

Penny :)

<font color=navy>msmouse,

You may want to do a save-as on your picture, and resize the saved-as image to a smaller dimension so you can email it. As Penny said, you probably got some type of image software with your camera. If you want to send a picture, and still have it be a good size, then resize to 640x480 pixels ... for landscape type pictures, make the width 640, and leave the height alone, for portrait size pics, make the height 640, and leave the width alone. Your pic software will make sure that the picture retains its perspective.

A simple software for doing this is ACDsee, & you can download it at: www.download.com.

Good luck.

Thanks, I'll look into that!
