My FIL has been sending way too many fwd's (there are days we get 3-4!!!! Almost every day we get at least one!). It's not like he's new to using e-mail, he's been on the internet for years. Hubby and I must get EVERY fwd that my FIL gets. I HATE fwds...so does my hubby. BUT, my hubby just says "oh, just delete them" . I would rather just not get them at all. Yesterday he sent the same fwd. to our home e-mail, my hotmail account AND hubby's work account. It had three pictures and a joke that I thought were very disrespectful towards women (the only reason why we opened it was because it wasn't listed as a fwd. he said "If I sent this as a fwd, no one would probably read the joke, and I thought it was funny"). I'm putting my foot down- NO MORE FORWARDS!!!!

My question is this...how do I ask him to STOP COMPLETELY with out being rude? I've asked him before (about 10 times in the last two years) to not send forwards, obviously "please take us off your forwards list" and "please don't send forwards to us" isn't working! But, other than the forwards he's a great guy. I just don't understand why he sends the crap that he does. Anyone else have this problem?

My uncle and SIL do this. I agree with the hubby, ignore them. I figure when they send them at least I know they are alive and thinking of me, both live out of state. The only thing I bother to reply to are the ones that are wrong and I really don't want them to forward on the false information--like asbestos in womens feminine hygiene products or Bill Gates is going to give you a new computer/money/etc.

Nope, I just delete them. Pushing delete is much easier than dealing with the fallout....

I forgot to mention...my 8 yr. old daughter uses our home e-mail address to send messages to my mom. I'm usually right at the computer with her, but last time- she thought it would be fun to open up all the "messages from grandpa" (my FIL)...I am worried that some of the things he sends could have some kind of virus or something on them. OR that one time she'll open up a fwd. with dirty pictures on it that grandpa has sent. I should just get her an e-mail address of her own I guess so she can write to my mom. Maybe that would be better.

I too agree with your DH. It really isn't that dramatic to hit delete. You could tell him that your DD uses the email and ask if he could refrain from sending questionable forwards to that account. Your DH could use the same excuse for his work account. Sorry but you are out of luck with the hotmail account.

Does he send 'normal' email? If he rarely does, filter him to your junk folder.

How old is your DD? ETA; duh you said 8. My DS is 8 too. It would probably be easiest to just get her a separate address. My kids have their own aliases to our home email which is filtered to their folders instead of the generic inbox.
