I have several trips planned between now and April and have been watching airfare to get a handle on prices, trends, and know when to buy. Tuesday night this week I was goofing around on kayak and found airfare chicago to orlando leaving Friday night coming home Monday night $239 pp. glad I jumped on it, cuz now those same flights are $965 pp. three days later. I bought airfare for jan Chgo to orlando $309 pp. those same tickets are now $696.

I guess the rule of thumb is if you come across a good price snap it up

And don't check back unless you booked with an airline that gives credit (without a fee) in case of a price drop. (like southwest or alaska)
