Gordeeva & Grinkov 1988 Winter Olympics, long program - gold medal performance. As far as current competitive skaters, I love Johnny Wier. I think he's so beautiful to watch. Also Evan Lysacek always entertains me.

I'm so glad I found this thread!! Watching these clips has brought back some amazing memories.

I never liked Christopher Bowman. Kurt Browning, Brian Orser, Robin Williams, Scott Hamilton, and Elvis Stojko were my absolute favorites. I haven't watched in a few years though and wouldn't know most of the new people

Wow....I didn't know Christopher Bowman had died.....I wasn't fond of his skating but I do remember him....what happened?

He was found dead a few months ago in a hotel room presumably from an overdose. So sad and so much potential lost.

I also loved Kurt Browning's Brick House performance, Brian Orser's Pink Panther exhibition performance after the 84 Olympics, Torvil and Dean's 84 long Dance, most of Michelle Kwan's performances and too many others to mention!

Someone actually agrees with me....how scary (and I didn't even notice that most of my favorite skaters are Canadians but I'm American.....the women who are my favorites aren't Canadian but the majority of the guys are.)

I am a total skating buff, so I have a few favorite performances...

Klimova and Ponamorenko (I know that I did not spell that right) skated a truly beautiful program to "Romeo and Juliet" that was breathtaking. They are such a passionate couple when they skate.

Oksana Baiul had a very heartbreaking performance soon after Sergei Grinkov died, and I think it was to a Madonna song, but I am not sure. Anyway, she was completely emotional, and broke down on the ice immediately following the routine.

Gordeeva and Grinkov's "The Man I Love" will always be just a wonderful performance to me, encapsulating everything that made them the remarkable team that they were. They were like one being on the ice and it was always a pleasure to watch the purity of their skating. Her first performance after he died, was really hard to watch, but ultimately, beautiful.

Brian Boitano's "Don't Cry" routine was pretty, and very much indicative of what a wonderful skater he is.

Paul Wylie's "Schindler's List" is simply one of the most beautiful routine's I have ever seen.

Loved Sale and Pelletier's "Love Story". Beautiful, clean skating, done well.


These are just the few that stand out to me right now. I kind of miss skating, it really isn't as huge as it was in the 90s. I especially miss skaters like Kurt Browning, Paul Wylie, Kristi Yamaguchi and Katerina Witt. I'm "old school" I guess.

Definitely! Here's a more obscure Brian Boitano performance that I LOVED. It was his short program in the 1988 US Nationals. He got almost all perfect marks from the judges, as shown at the end of the clip. Fun to watch this again after a long time!

Thank you! This is the couple I was trying to remember when I posted the first time--I absolutely love them and even my DH likes their routines

My very favorite was not a competition performance at all. It was Ekaterina Gordeeva's first skate without Sergei Grinkov. Still breaks my heart to this day to watch her...

Me too. They were awesome. I'll never forget the day he died. I cried my eyes out.
