So our trip is over and while many parts were great, there were many, many points of frustration.

As I had told the board, DBF has a damaged knee. He had never been to Disney before and I had suggested 3 times (over the course of months) that we rent him an offsite ECV. He stated no the first time and ignored the second 2 suggestions.

Day 1: DBF wore his crocs to the airport. Due to a horrific airport experience which led to me having a huge meltdown/panic attack and nearly missing the plane, our luggage didn't make it to MCO on the same flight. Long story short, DBF didn't expect to go to a park on our first day (despite my telling him we would) and would have changed into his sneakers had he had his suitcase. Of course, he wound up in excruciating pain after an hour at the Studios.

Day 2 & 3: Spent the day at Epcot. Suggested I rent the ECV, he said "no". He spent the day in pain, limping along. It was miserable for me to see him in pain. He moaned and groaned getting in and out of every ride vehicle. I told him that he was NOT coming to AK with me unless I rented him an ECV. He stayed back at CSR all day. He had really wanted to see AK. Stubborn as ever.

Day 4: MK- finally broke through to him, he let me rent him an ECV! :woohoo: We had a great day! Crystal Palace at 8:05am and then got through the park with few lines. Napped and then went back for Spectromagic and Wishes.

Day 5: Epcot in the afternoon- rented him another ECV in the park. Had another great day. Le Cellier was an amazing meal and Illuminations afterward made a perfect end to the trip. :thumbsup2

Day 6: DBF really wanted to ride the safari at AK so we went for morning EMH, and rode the safari twice before DBF got an emergency work call which disrupted our wonderful mood. We drove back to MCO and flew home.

I was definitely frustrated. The trip would have been more enjoyable had the first three days not be spent with this hanging over our head.

When we got back, DBF stated that he didn't realize how BIG the place was (I told him many many times) :rotfl:

Some people have to learn for themselves.
Sounds like your DBF has learned now and at least you won't have to fight the same battle next time.

Ya gotta love men though. A woman tries to look out for them and they act like babies. A man's pride is a fearsome thing.

As Sue said, rejoice that you've finally won the battle. He'll know better next time. And one day you'll hear him telling another friend or family member not to be such a ninny about using an ECV. You have our permission to smile haughtily or go off to the nearest bathroom and laugh hard.

I'm sorry his stubbornness made the beginning of the trip so rough on you. Men can be awkward beasties, can't they? But at least he caved in the end (I loved your tactics, very nicely played :thumbsup2 ).

How was your fatigue? Sounds like you got through without too many problems, which is great.

Of course, this holiday being put under a cloud like this can only mean one thing: I'm sorry ForeverYoung, but you're just going to have to go back again some time. I know it's hard, but I'm sure you'll face it somehow! :rotfl:

Glad that at least the whole trip wasn't dampened by his stubbornness!
