Fiestaware?

They are on sale at Kohl's this week at 30% off in store. :)

Jill in CO (Fiesta enaber!)

Soooo...I saw this thread this morning. I have had my Fiestaware for probably 15 years now, love it, and was only using it for "special" family dinners...good report cards, special accomplishments, ect. Keep it on display in a kitchen hutch. So pretty...

Then I looked at my miss matched everyday stuff I have been using past 5 years. Chipped, different patterns, lost/broke some of the bowls ect.

So I said to myself,.... self...whatcha doing?... ummm, kids are now in college...why are you not enjoying the stuff you love?! Hmmmm...Kohl's has a sale $18 bucks a place setting... Free shipping over $75..and cash back cards...

Cleaned out the cupboard of the old stuff, brought my Fiestaware over and ordered another 4 place setting to add to my 8 I had and some of the 1qt veggie bowls to use as pasta bowls.

So not much of a "budget" day for me today!!! LOL :rotfl2:

Enjoy your happy plates everyone!

Gail

Thank you everyone! My dishes came the other day..they are beautiful!! It will be several months before our house is rebuilt so I have to wait to use them. Can't wait!!!

My husband has banned me from the DIS.... cause I told him I want these plates. (I've needed new dinnerware for over 3 years now...we're using cracked cheap stuff right now)

When he asked me where I saw them...I told him I haven't in person yet...but the DIS said they are pretty durable....and I can find them on sale at Kohl's sometimes.

He took away the laptop :lmao:

I do love the look of them, and the fact that I can go crazy with the color combinations.

Thanks for the websites and hints everyone :)

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I swear the budget board makes me spend money, not save! After reading a thread last night I bought down jackets from Lands' End, thanks to a tip I read. Now I will start searching for Fiesta. I have always loved the stuff, but keep delaying my collection.

I live about 45 minutes from the factory store in Newell WV. All of my dishes are fiesta ware from the seconds biannual sale. When I restocked my kitchen in 2000 or 2001 (can't remember the year), the dinner plates were 4 for a $1.00!! Yes, I mean they were 25 cents a piece it was awesome! I'm sure the price has gone up since then but it is still a great deal. SO, if you can ever make it to the sale ....grab some socks and GO! ( Bring socks to wear on your hands to wipe off the dishes while you are shopping. Everything is covered with dust and dirt at the seconds sale and you must wipe them off to see what kind of imperfections they have). And get there early to get a good spot in line!

When trying to convince DH about going to the tent sale I googled and lo and behold they're talking Fiesta on the Disboards...is that karma or what?!:cloud9::goodvibes

Me, too and I only have a few pieces that I received for Christmas. Was telling my DH that we NEED to go to the tent sale!

I picked up a pretty teal platter the other day when someone brought it to a function and left it there w/o their name. I've sent out emails to everyone who brought stuff and no one has responded--so....I think it's mine and I've used it already. It makes me happy with it's color.:rolleyes1

So, when do they have the tent sales?

I would very hesitant to buy seconds from someone online. Having been to the factory, I know they have lots of great bargains but you have to search them out. Many of the dishes have flaws. Only you know what you are willingly to live with. So many of the pieces are scratched or flawed that I could never have someone choose for me. It is a great place, and well worth the time, to visit in person!

I would be hesitant to take the advice of anyone who dug up a thread that hasn't been posted on in three months and this is their first post.... Seems fishy to me..

I'm glad this old thread came up. Nice to see so many who love Fiesta!

I am complete jealous of the gal who has the lilac and apricot. They were from before I started collecting and would love to have them! I am that way about my Sapphire set. I wish I had bought more than one place setting of that.

I buy every color when they come out now and love them. They are pretty durable. I just discovered my 2nd bowl that will need replacing after 15 years. It's my dh - he's hard on all my dishes! ;)

Everything Fiesta! Is HLC's factory outlet store in Flatwoods, WV.

Born, and raised, and still living in WV - I LOVE FIESTA!

My wife fell in love with it as well - in fact it was out 'china' pattern! HAHA

I started getting a place setting each Christmas when I was in college - and now we have service for 12+ - with serving pieces - water glasses - etc etc etc

I HIGHLY suggest that you wait until around the holidays to get all of your place settings and servings pieces - or come to WV to visit the factory - or the factory outlet.

We bought Water Pitchers for both my Mom and one of my SIL's for aroudn $5.00 - we bought those for them to use as a vase for larger bouquets of wild flowers - they were beautiful!

Be sure to decide if you want the place setting with the tea cup or the place setting with the coffee mug. We are replacing a few of our mug place settings with tea cup/saucer settings slowly.

There isn't much China made in the United States these days - and you will find that Fiesta really lasts! And if your collection is large enough - it will serve any dinner- party - or microwave warm up :) in color, style, and flair!

If you can't tell - WV loves Fiesta!!!

HAHAHA

You should really come to WV - REALLY - you should! HAHAHA! :)

IF you need a tour guide - by ALL means - I'm at your service!

I love my Fiestaware. Although I made a HUGE mistake about 18 years ago. My DH's grandma was getting close to the end of her life and started giving me things that she didn't want DH's "stepmom" to get her hands on. When she offered me her 1940s era Fiestaware, I passed. I was afraid of the lead content and back then the brand was no longer being made and I had no idea of its value. His grandma kept insisting I take some pieces at least, so I took a water pitcher, a cake plate, a serving bowl and a salt & pepper shaker set. When I got home I promptly gave the items away to charity, but decided to keep the cake plate.

After DH's grandmother passed away, DH's stepmom cleaned out her house and bragged to me about how she got all of the fiestaware and how each piece was going for a small fortune on ebay. :sad2:

Our family has used fiestaware as our daily dishes for about 17 years now. I originally bought from a warehouse discount store in KY and later added to it from Old Time Pottery, not sure if they still sell 2nds or not but they have lasted all this time. When I remodeled my kitchen I put in a plate rack and mug hanger so I can show it off!

My grandmother died last spring and she had the old fiestaware that they had received as a wedding gift. She has left it for me, I can't wait to pick it up! I will display it :)

I have a fair amount of Fiesta and i love it. Is there anywhere to order just the dinner plates? I do not need or want the mugs, or cups and saucers. I already have 6 Fiesta cereal bowls, the larger bowls, platters, and even 3 canisters.

I got some from Kohls, on sale plus the 30% scratch off. I ordered some from Kohls, free shipping, 1/2 arrived broken (!!) but I returned to the store.

I bought a fiestaware plate called a buffet plate at Kohls but can't find it anywere else. I just check the bottom and it is a Fiestaware plate but it is not the Luncheon plate. It's the same size but shaped differently. I'm very confused. Went to Macys and they do not carry this plate. Went to Kohls to recheck the name and it is tagged a Buffet Plate. Has anyone run into this. I'm missing a few colors that Kohls doesn't have
