Fiestaware?

I bought a fiestaware plate called a buffet plate at Kohls but can't find it anywere else. I just check the bottom and it is a Fiestaware plate but it is not the Luncheon plate. It's the same size but shaped differently. I'm very confused. Went to Macys and they do not carry this plate. Went to Kohls to recheck the name and it is tagged a Buffet Plate. Has anyone run into this. I'm missing a few colors that Kohls doesn't have

Hmm... here is their site, but to me they have more than what is listed. My uncle is head of security there. I can ask him. Maybe Kohls just called it something different, does it show up here?? http://www.hlchina.com/fiestaitems.htm

Is it oval shaped with sides? That one does make a great plate, but was originally sold as a serving platter, if I remember correctly.

Just to add that I ended up buying almost all my Fiesta from MegaChina. No problems! I even had to return some bowls that were too small, and that went smoothly.

I bought more than I expected, since I loved it all so much. many colors. I did not want mugs, mugs or saucers. And I wanted the regular dinner plates in multiple colors, I got 2 of each plate in about 8 different colors.

I DID get some pieces at Kohls as well, during their sales, with additional 30% off. Most of the stuff I ordered from them online arrived broken. (returned it with no problem of course). I got a few pieces on Ebay like platters. I even have the canisters now, in red.

I just went to Fiesta's site and they have a color listed called flamingo- I don't think it was on there yesterday?

I am interested in the tent sale but-- I read an article about someone sleeping outside & I'm not sure I want a deal that badly. How are the prices if you just go to the outlet when it isn't a tent sale?

Just saw the other day that Megachina is retiring.

I just went down to WV in April to visit the Fiesta Ware factory store in Newell and the outlet at the Flatwoods Outlet mall. Large selection at both-far more than any of my local Macy's/Kohl's type retailers-but the prices were, honestly, about what I'd expect with a good sale.

However, the Factory store had a huge seconds room (the Flatwoods location had one as well, but much smaller). For anyone with the time and patience, I have no doubt you could go far in building your Fiesta Ware collection just on the "seconds", because if you have the patience to paw through the pallets of plates, bowls, serving dishes etc, you can find some where the flaw is either un-noticeable, or unimportant to you. I got one of the big baking dishes (retails at something like $75) for like $23 because of a maybe 1 inch scratch, on the bottom, in the clay, not even in the emanel, and it's not a gouge or a crack waiting to happen, it's a little bitty scratch. Now, some of the seconds, it's very clear why they are there-poor glazing, divots or bumps on the plate, etc. I bought several plates, a spoon rest and some other stuff as seconds-the prices on seconds are significantly discounted, and all were flaws that I either couldn't find (I have a couple plates that I have used several times, and I still can't figure out why they were seconds) or that I am comfortable with (one has a tiny bump in the bottom of a serving bowl-tiny that you can't see it, but you can feel it, and it's in the bottom of the serving bowl-who's going to see it anyway?).

If you do go to either outlet store, bring a rag or two to dust off what you are looking at! I plan on trying to get back to the store in Newell this fall (maybe a girl's weekend type trip) to just get some more filler kind of items, gusto bowls, big mugs, another spoonrest or two, maybe a pizza tray thing....

Just read thru this thread as I've been wanting to switch my dishes to Fiestaware.

I have three colors picked out that will match my kitchen---Shamrock, Sunflower and Paprika.

I googled MegaChina and the website is gone :( Just a blue screen talking about the retiring. So I went to Amazon and looked up MegaChina and all they listed was a black bud vase.

Guess I'll have to look into Macy's and Kohl's and hope for free shipping.

I get mine from Macys or JCPenny's as it's always on sale there & I can usually use a coupon code for an additional savings.

Fiesta is our everyday china and I've been collecting it for almost 10 years when we listed it on our wedding registry. I personally, don't like mixing & matching. Eek! I know, I'm probably in the minority here...but I like my stuff to match & over the years I've focused on having a good mix of all the pieces- just not all the colors. I have the 4 pc sets, extra dinner plates, large serving bowls, platters, salt & pepper shakers, sugar & creamer sets, table linens etc. all in the colbalt color. I've found that the best time to find these accessory pieces is during the holidays. Lots of variety at really good prices!

Funny, I came here to ask a Fiestaware question and saw this thread on the front page.

I have multiple colors but Sunflower and another (can't remember) are showing scratch marks. Any tips on getting rid of these?

Thanks!

I have been on several threads about Fiesta in the last few days, not sure if it was mentioned on this one or not, the buffet plate is exclusive to Kohls.

Another :cool1: for Fiestaware.

I just bought Fiestaware in the last month to replace my Corelle dishes. I have 3 kids, so I hope they learned on the Corelle!

The Fiestaware is gorgeous! I find myself smiling every time I go for a plate.
I was scared to mix and match, but I did.
I have the plum and lemongrass. I love them both. I was not sure about the lemongrass until it came in the mail. I really love the lemongrass.

I ordered from Macy's during their buy one, get one with an additional percentage off.

I am planning to add to the collection as I see sales. I just ordered the huge salt/pepper shakers from Amazon.

Only my Cobalt and Dr purple (plum? I forget the name) show marks, makes me wonder if the very dark colors have this problem more than the others.

I've heard that about the very light ones too so maybe the middle of the road ones are best?

I've been on several threads lately but everyone knows chocolate is discontinued with the introduction of flamingo right?

I live near the Homer Laughlin factory......best tip I have is to bring some old socks to use to dust off the item.....just slip them on your hands and you can take the dust off very quickly! Time and patience are key! All of my Fiestaware is from the seconds room, but it usually takes a couple of trips when I'm looking for something specific.

I used Megachina to buy all of my Fiestaware and loved it. They have good prices and free shipping over $100, plus you can customize your set with different colors. I didn't want the standard bowls or any mugs, so I just bought individual pieces. I also wanted one of each color instead of all one color.

Totally ditto for me!

Megachina is out of business now. If you want to mix & match or substitute, Zesty Dishes is the best option I've seen (although their shipping is crazy high). Bon Ton has prices that are slightly better than Dillard's or Macy's, if you are looking for standard sets with no customization.

I've had my colbalt dishes for over 10 years and I have a few small scratches. These are my everyday dishes & my 7 year old son has grown up eating off them. He's even dropped one on the hardwood floors & it didn't break.

For me....the scratches aren't too noticeable & really....can you expect to use something 3X a day for 10+ years and it to look brand new?? I microwave in them, put them in the oven, the dishwasher & generally use the CR*P out of them! I think some scratches are common.

I have seen the white colored plates & the scratches were grey in color, so VERY noticeable. IMO, the darker colored ones hide the scratches better.

I just noticed the other day that they sell some kind of polish on their site to remove the marks.
