I just signed up for a field hockey rec league after doing a instructional camp. But my weakest spot in field hockey is shooting. How could I improve that?

hit hard. no survivors... na look for the weak spots in the goalie and use your body to block defenders

go out and practice. make sure you have the right size stick!! when you buy a stick, don't pay attention to the sheet of paper they have saying what size you'll need for your height. the rule of the thumb is that the top of the stick should reach your hip. my legs are a bit long for my height so i have to use a bigger stick.

when you're shooting, hit with all of your frustration. think of something that really really pisses you off. my coach told me to try that a longgg time ago and it's worked ever since!

I agree with those above. Although I don't play field hockey, I use the same technique when I'm hitting or pitching for softball. Think of someone/something that makes you mad and imagine you are aiming at them/it. It helps improve the strength behind your shot and the shot overall...or at least for softball it does but I'm sure it would work the same for you :goodvibes
