Any info or opinions?

I had fiberglass nails for about 6 months. They looked great but sometimes they would peel. Then I switched to gel, which lasted longer but was more expensive. After a few months with those I switched to acrylic. They were much cheaper but when I decided to get rid of them I had NO fingernails left underneath.

So, I guess I'd vote for gel as a first choice, then fiberglass. ;)

Janice, fingernails. :)

I just had some put on. I think I'm going to like these. They look so much more natural than the other two that I've tried before.
I've got a few things coming up that I wanted to have nice nails for. :D

Yikes! I am seriously thinking about having mine taken off! I like them, but with DH now working nights, it's hard for me to get out and get them done! Thought I'd take them off for a while, but if they are going to look that bad, I may have them put right back on!!

Laurie, when I had my other nails taken off, there was nothing underneath. What little nail I had was very, very, thin and it just came off. It took 6 months for a decent nail to grow back in.

My nails are normally pretty thin and break/peelable. It doesn't help that when I get nervous or worried I tend to pick at my nails.

I'm hoping to get to the point that I can have just the fiberglass overnay, then maybe, possibly, just my own nails.

I've only used gel or silk wraps over my real nails and when you remove the wrap your nails are just as weak and paper thin as what the above posters are describing. I've had my wraps off for a few months now and right now I have decided to spend my money on different luxuries. The wraps do make your nails look great though!

I've had acrylic nails for years. Every so often I take them off and let them have a rest.

My own nails are paper thin and they peel and break anyway, so what they look like when I take off the acrylics isn't much different.

I love my nails. I feel funky without them when I don't have them and I can't type either.

I tried gel nails once. I hated them.

Never tried the fiberglass. The acrylics last me about 2 weeks, and a full set is only $22. A fill is $16.

I get them filled and I get a pedicure every two weeks for $36.

It's a small luxury I refuse to give up unless I lose my job.

That's what I decided when I first started getting it done last year. (after 9/11) I thought this would be the one thing I could do by myself, for myself! I just got my 1st pedicure before 4th of July this year. (I lead a sheltered life! Lol) However, we've been running around so much this summer and with DH's schedule (I always seem to go around everybody else's schedule:rolleyes: )it's been a hassle to get it done. Maybe I'll feel different once school starts and we settle back into some sort of routine.

Okay, enough of my trivial whining...back to Dising!;) :)
