Right now I am leaning toward the Yacht Club for our HM (honeymoon), but I've stayed at the WL before and was really "wow'ed"

What do you think? (... Poly is out, not into the theme.. and the GL is just too darn expensive.)

Hi there ~ YC is a great choice for a honeymoon, romantic walks on the Boardwalk at night, illuminatons at EPCOT, a stones throw from EPCOT and MGM ~ I'm sure he would be wowed, not to mention Stormalong Bay and all the nice restaurants nearby.

Good Luck,

>>^..^<<

HA HA!

I'm going on a long shot here and going to say:

Hi Freiden! I recognized your name from the knot and you've answered a few of my polls on who's going to disney for their honeymoon!

Bobbi
aka bharvey80 on theknot

If this isn't who I think it is well... oops - SORRY! LOL!

How about the Contemporary Tower?? My favorite is the Poly, but you said that is out....My second is the Contemporary. I am sure wherever you stay it will be magical!

Let's see, that's a tough call. I have stayed at all of the deluxe resorts except the Contemporary. My favorites are the GF and the AKL with the BWI and YC not far behind. I have enjoyed my stay at each resort, and they are all unique.

I would say that the resort that wowed me the most was the AKL. It's theme is absolutely incredible (and I'm not even an animal person), and the resort's ambience is terrific. It is so special to sit on your balcony in a savannah view room and watch the animals every morning.

It really comes down to personal preference and what theme you would like the most. Be sure to check out pictures of the resorts and the rooms at www.wdwig.com and www.ourlaughingplace.com to help you decide. You could also split your stay (something I love to do) so you could try out more than one resort. :)

You want to WOW him. Well for WOW... WL or AKL will WOW, but for honeymoon BW or YC. The previous post is right on - right at Epcot's back door, MGM a short walk. Beautiful resorts, cool pool (if you choose YC, not too bad at BW). Late night strolls on the Boardwalk - oh yeah, definitely YC. Bottom line - you can't go wrong and he will be wowed anyway - he just got married. Congrats on your marriage.

I would go with WL. It is one of the smaller resorts, the walking path for those romantice evening walks. The boat ride can be romantic in the evening as well. I may change my mind after our trip to AKL in December.

Freiden and bharvey....hey its katrina from the knot...
Anyway, i'm trying to convice DH to go to wdw for our 1 yr anniv. I've been wondering the exact same thing, he wants to stay in an off resort hotel to save money. I'm not adverse to this, but I know a wdw resort would really wow him. Wondering if there's a moderate priced that would work? WL is my favorite and loved the boardwalk villas, but I know we can't afford those or any in that tier. We could do an inexpensive, but for that I tend to agree, lets just do a dtd and have a nicer room. I'm kind of stuck. So i'm wondering maybe the Carib Beach?

Deluxe-Definitely the YC/BC resorts. If this doesn't "wow" him, I don't know what will.

For a moderate-I would say the CBR. This resort has a charming tropical Disney feel to it, and quick bus service (when we were there in '98). Just ask for a room near Old Port Royale and you'll be fine.
Hope this helps! :)

I'd stick with the YC if you want to WOW someone. Plus the benefit of staying onsite is being so close to the park. And you can't get any closer than the YC. Plus you may want to spend more time at MGM and Epcot since it's a grown up trip. Save the monorail resorts for when you have kids. I find strolling thru World Showcase at Epcot to be very romantic--I'm not sure why.

Katrina--See if you can get a good rate at Swan/Dolphin. They have various specials. It has a lower cost, but the location benefit of the Yacht Club.

I would stick with the YC - it's my favorite resort :D ! DH and I stayed there last November to celebrate our 18th anniversary. We had a standard view room overlooking the wedding gazebo and we also had a view of the lagoon and BWI from the balcony. It is such a beautiful, peaceful resort, and the location can't be beat. There are so many wonderful restaurant choices within walking distance. I think it's a perfect choice for a honeymoon.

We did WL for our 10 anniversary during the first year that it was open, and loved it too. We also really enjoyed our stay at AKL. Both resorts have a definite "wow" factor, but if I were going on my honeymoon, I'd go with the YC :D !

Good luck with your decision, and happy honeymooning!

I would go with Yacht club - but if you are looking for a wow that won't break the bank FH and I LOVED the AKL when we went in 1/02 and can't wait to go back - there were quite a number of honeymooners while we were there.

I have pics in my link below if you want to check it out

I think the Contemporary-just the feel of it is Magical with the monorail going through it(especially being first time on disney property).

AKL!!!!!!!!

Katrina,

What about CSR? I found it to be a little more "upscale" than CBR. The pools incredible and the resort is breathtaking. It "took my breath away" when I returned there from having dinner at the Poly.

Amber,

Hmm, I think you're the only person who would know what would wow him, we don't know his likes / dislikes. Read up on the resorts with him in mind, what you think he will like. I'm sure you'll pick the right one.

Hey knottie pal...

I think WL (and based on pics AKL) are wowing to look at, but for a wowing overall experience I would go to BC or YC.

Our budget realistically only allows for a moderate, so we're thinking of splitting our trip between the ASMu and the BC which will basically be in the same price range.
