Few Questions

We have a trip planned for aug and we are staying offsite. I was just told by my ortho I have to have knee surgery and with my work its probably going to be mid june. The dr told me ill be using crutches for a few weeks then I can go to one for a long while. my questions are if I rent a scooter(im not sure if im going to need one) can I bring a crutch on it with me? I'm willing to get in the regular lines(if we dont have a fp). also we live in PA and my ils have handicap plates on their car. when they go down they will be flying and then renting a car- can they still park in the handicap lot? how will it work if i rent a scooter and take it to the parks can it fit on the tram? would I have to drive the scooter and just have the rest of the family on the tram? thanks guys for any info you can give me

The only question I can answer is the one about crutches. I carried mine on my ECV. There was a clip for them on the back of the seat, but it wasn't very strong and they kept falling out, so I just stuck them between my knees. It was kind of handy because the tops of the crtuches were up at most peoples' eye level, so they were less likely to step out in front of me.

Like the PP said, you can carry the crutch. It'll just take practice to find the best holding position for you.

Many states require that you get a "traveling disability tag" if you're from another state. I'm not sure if that's required for your situation - it'd be something you could find out from DMV.

If you rent a scooter, you can ask for one that can be broken down into 3 or 4 pieces so it'll fit in the trunk. Most of the time, the heaviest piece for these scooters is around 35 pounds.

I'm not sure how scooters work on the WDW trams, so I'll let someone else chime in on that question.

1. You cannot get an ECV onto a tram for multiple reasons. Primarily the space between seats is less than the width of an ECV.

2. The disabled parking is patrolled by Orange County Sheriff's Office and they will issue tickets to any vehicle that is not displaying a disabled plate or hang tag.

3. You might see about getting a temporary hang tag from your state. I don't know their policy for a tag if you already have a plate.

4. If you rent an ECV from offsite, tell them you need a crutch holder; that is normally about a $10 charge for the entire rental (not per day). If you rent from Disney, they cannot add a crutch holder to their ECVs.

If your ils can't get a tempory tag I am sure your dr could get you one after your surgery most states do have tempory ones. I would talk to your dr and go on you state DMV like a pp said ocso will ticket if their no tag and the fine is 250. I looked on pendot they have a tempory tag that you can get for up to 6 months and it list who is eligible to get one and it list using a crutch so you with your dr be able to get a tempory tag. Not sure how long it takes but here the info hope it helps.

thank you my ils can use it. We will have a different car(I'm driving down to myrtle beach for DDs softball tournament then going to dinsey after that) I giuess ill talk to the dr to see if he will sign the papers for a temp for me(i hate asking b/c im young and my friend who has one gets rude comments all the time)
