Its going to be fairly cold next week in the evening (for me, and for camping at least).

I was hoping to spend some alone time, sitting outside my tent, in a chair, and just relaxing under the stars. Do you all have some recommendations on how to keep warm? Just to clarify, I cannot have any type of fire at my location correct? Not even the burn logs correct? Just wanted to make sure.

Also, how late do they normally do the bonfires at night? Do they snuff it out as soon as the movie is over? I was hoping to maybe hop over there after going to the parks to warm up a bit and just enjoy the time. (keeping in mind I am getting some good alone time after a business trip and making this visit without my wife and 3 year old :thumbsup2 )

Just curious.

Thanks!

I wasn't sure, so I thought I'd post this here and over there.
Thank you.

If there's a burn ban in effect, no fires of any kind. Should be posted at all the C.S.

Even if there's not, there are no fire pits at the sites, so you'd have to bring your own. Sometimes the portable covered ones are allowed.

I like the propane heater option. Barring that... extra sleeping bag?

Hope it warms up for you!!

There is another thread going already about your campfire at your campsite question.

I wanted to address your question about the "bonfire." The campfires at Campfire Sing-a-long and movie are on the small side, and they will have burned out by the end of the movie each evening. So, that isn't going to be a good option for a place where you can get warmed up.

There are all kinds of portable propane heaters available which can be attached to a small propane tank, like these:

Also, you can bring a small electric space heater. One of those pointed at you would probably be enough on a cool evening.

Thank you! I've been looking for what you posted to see about just buying one of those. No luck so far at Sport Authority and Target. My last option is Wal-Mart tonight. Maybe its because I live in SW Florida but IM having no luck with propane/butane heaters. Lots of electric ones and I'll go that route if need be, but for the price I think the propane would probably put off much better heat.

To Wal-Mart tonight and if I have no luck on the propane heater (lots of stoves too, but no heaters so far), I'll get an electric one.

Thanks!

eBay or online stores are my friend!! I have long ago quit wandering to multiple stores to find a specific item!!

But if you must try brick and mortar for this item, also check out Home Depot and/or Lowes

Yeah I'm with ya, other than I didnt schedule this trip until the last min and dont have time to wait on shipping.

No luck at home depot but I may give lowe's a shot.

I'm hoping for luck at Wal-Mart. I may just go with layers and an electric heater if all fails. If nothing else, I'll just cozy up in my little tent and enjoy an early, nice, quiet, evening and get up earlier in the am.

I don't know exactly where you are, but see if there is a Harbor Freight near you. They do carry them, but not sure if a store would. If you go to Harbr Freight website, search for propane tank heater, and there is a store finder button at the top of the page.

Also, last year when we went to Daytona for the 500, I slept in a tent and all I had was a 40 degree sleeping bag with a comforter on top and slept in shorts and a tshirt and was toasty. It was in the 30's, so you should be fine.

Best Regards,
Norm

Ok i finally found what i needed! Leave it to walmart! I found the item listed here.

Coleman Sportcat Perfect Temp

I tested it out and its a thing of beauty and delivers great heat! Btw, does anyone know if its safe to use these in a tent? I wouldnt run it while sleeping but just while reading maybe? Im curious about co2 buildup in vented tents.

Anyways im pumped to finally have a good source of heat for later tgis week in the evenings.

Thanks all!

Here's the funny part. I'm from MN, and will be arriving in Orlando on Sunday night, with the first night at Disney Monday. I've been watching the forecast and think it's going to be WARM!

But here's the rule of thumb to staying warm. Dress in layers. Put a t-shirt on, then a sweatshirt, then an oversize fleece or hoodie, then a jacket. If you are real cold blooded then throw on a pair of long underwear bottoms. Have some gloves, and keep your beverage in a can coolie so your hand doesn't get cold. Bring along a knit or fleece cap. Socks are very important. I mostly wear "smart wool" socks, but you should always have some thick ones on if you are going to be sitting outside. Wear shoes or boots that cover your ankle too.

If you want you can throw a blanket on your chair, then wrap it around you after you sit down.

You can peel layers as you need to, or put that hoodie up. Also important is to sit with your back to the wind.

We have the slightly larger coleman "cat" heater. They really are great, no flame, ours has a small built in fan and heats up the camper very well. The instructions (and common sense) say to crack a window or two while its on and we also have a CO detector on hand as well.

My general rule of thumb is to keep putting on layers until I come close to this...
