Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but I have a question about the Lion King show at AK, or rather, about the work to enclose the theater.

From what I have seen, the show is set to be closed until 9/19 (and presumably re-opening the next day or very soon thereafter). My question is: What are the chances that the enclosing of the theater will run behind schedule and the show will re-open later?

We will be at AK on 9/26 (and possibly hopping to AK on other days of our stay) and this is the #1 thing on our list to do. DD4 LOVES The Lion King (we have a cat named Simba... :D ) and would really enjoy this show, I think.

I was just wondering if Disney refurbishments/construction usually run on schedule or if there is a history of them running behind? We're cutting it awfully close with our dates and I just want to have some realistic expectation of whether we'll be disappointed. Thanks!! :D

As far as I know they are running on schedule, but maybe Samirella can give us some insight on how things are going.

My experiene with rehabs has been that they generally run very, very, very close to (if not on) schedule. If I had to wager a guess, since there's several days between the opening and your visitation day, I'd say the chances are extremely good that everything will be fine. I hope so, as I went to see this show for the first time two years ago and was absolutely blown away (and I'm not much for these kind of shows... ok, I'll reluctantly admit to misting up at The Little Mermaid for reasosn that defy logic, but generally speaking, not much of a live show person). Lion King was one of the most amazing theme park based shows I've ever seen anywhere (the only thing that I can remember topping it was a show I saw at Disney's California Adventure. It was a show that, to the best of my knowledge, never played to the public, but was featured during the Press-Only pre-opening parties which I attended back when the park was getting ready to debut. I don't remember much about it, except that it was technologically advanced, involved a sleeping kid and dreams and was really something.

Otherwise, not much for the shows (even if Tarzan's abs not only rock but are, in fact, rock!)

From what I understand, everything is running on time.

What great news! Thanks so much for the information!

I'll keep my fingers crossed, but it sounds good!! :teeth:
