At the moment, for our travel dates in October, Disney's website shows a 5:00 showtime for Festival of the Lion King. AK also closes at 5:00 that day. Does anyone know if this could be possible? Do they let you stay for the show?

Thanks!

Shows are often scheduled for right at park closing (Illuminations, Fantasmic) and guests are required to clear the park after they exit the show.

Yep! The last FotLK of the day is a great way to get the most out of your AK day, for a few reasons. By afternoon, the park really clears out so you can maximize rides on headliners, and that last FotLK show tends to only be about half to three-quarters full, so you can walk in just 5 minutes before show time and still have great seats.

Excellent! Thanks so much y'all!

Now my only dilemma is that I wanted to ride Kali River last so we don't walk around wet. Even if we ride it just before Lion King I'd hate to sit wet during the show (especially if its air conditioned)...

choices, choices ;)

I know it's a different park/attraction, but the last show of the day is great. A couple of years ago we saw the 9:00 show of The American Adventure at Epcot. It was the four people in our party and one other random guy in that big theater. Then when we got out, Epcot was pretty much empty and we could take our time walking back to the BC.

The theater is very much air conditioned.

robo - thanks, I was afraid of that! I'm a wimp about being cold.

csarenz - that sounds awesome!!

I'm still torn, lol

If it's hot, do Kali earlier in the day so you have plenty of time to dry off. If it's a cool day (October weather is very variable) just skip Kali. Reviews of it aren't that great and we've never done it because we've always happened to hit AK on cooler days where water rides hold no appeal.

My favorite review of Kali of all time is in this post on Josh's blog:

There’s not much to the story. It’s supposed to highlight the dangers of deforestation or something. They might as well hand you a piece of paper that says “don’t cut down trees in the forest” and then pour a bucket of water over your head. You’d save the 90 bucks on admission and 20 or more minutes of your time.

:rotfl:

Aw man, I had high hopes for Kali! I grew up with a great little amusement park near by (Opryland anyone??) and there was a ride called Grizzly River Rampage. We all boarded round rafts and waited eagerly to see who would get the "unlucky" seat and get drenched. Of course, as a kid I didn't mind squelching around for hours afterwards. I'm sure if it were still around I wouldn't find it nearly so great, either.

So the lesson is - don't go to great lengths to ride Kali.

Thanks y'all. That 5:00 FOTLK show sounds pretty good.

Don't let others put you off Kali. It has a beautiful queue, I think the story line is ok, and still the same fun of seeing who gets drenched and who doesn't. Just make your ride a little earlier, and in any kind of heat you do dry off fast!
