I read on another site that Festival Of Lion King at AK will be closed from Aug 24 thru early September for refurbishment to the theater- does anyone know if this is true? I hope not siince it is at the top of my list of things to see and do this trip- Sheila

Oh no! I don't know if this is true or not, so I'm going to bump it up. I'm there Sept 5-14 and Festival of the Lion King is my main reason for going to AK.

Yes, this show will be down to be enclosed from Aug 24 until Sep 19..

Whew! Boy I am glad we are going in July. Would hate to miss this show, but by being enclosed, I assume it will be air conditioned from then on.

We were told that it is going to be fully enclosed and air conditioned. They have had to cancel many shows due to inclimate weather for the performers.

I am glad we saw it this past May 2003.
Yes - we ent to AK just for the show and
Boma's for dinner at AKL.

We were giraffes this time. :)
Last year we were warthogs.
We did not like to snort for the sound :(

We are taking a 2 or 3 year WDW break
(kids want Hershy Park, Wash DC)

We hope to get back to see the new show.
Maybe the acts will be 'upgraded' a bit
with A/C. Not sure about the fire dancer -
I do not know if that can be done in an
enclosed building.

Sorry for those who have not seen the show
and it's your first time at WDW.

;) Try the Tarzan Rock's show. Great dancing,
music, roller blading. Sit in the front section
by the ramp where it forms a 'T' - seats closest to the
lighting/sound box. You'll have some floor
space for your empty lemon or strawberry
ice containers (bring napkins or wet ones).
Great palce to take pictures and you'll be
near the action.
- just a suggestion -

Does anyone know for sure when it re-opens..........the 19th or on the 20th????

THanks

Thanks for the replys, I saw this show once and was really looking froward to seeing it again. I havent ever seen the Tarzan show though and hopefully, I will be able to see that- Sheila

I told my husband last night that this will be closed during our September trip. He was relieved, I laughed. The last two times we have gone, he has been picked to lead the elephant section with an elephant roar. He was really embarrassed both times. The first time it was just him and me, and I didn't have a camera. The next time, this past January, we had our girls (20 & 21). We sat in the same section, and I told them about him getting picked last time. Kimmi (20) tried to teach him how to do an elephant sound, just in case. Then, he was picked again. We were laughing so hard. His elephant sound was pretty lame because of his embarrassment and our laughter, which made us laugh even louder. I guess he had decided that, if I made him see this show again, we were sitting in the lion section. He thinks he can do a pretty good lion, lol.
