What type of fertizlizer do you use on your plants?
I have seen alot of pretty flowers, plants, fruits, and veggies on here, so I was just wondering. What is your secret?

I do fertilize, but use different fertilizers for different plants.

Annuals: I lime the soil a month before planting. When I'm ready to plant I scratch in a time-release granular (5-10-5) and water with a weak liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks.

Perennials: I use natural fertilizers. Compost, bonemeal and a manure tea.

Manure Tea: a bag of de-hydrated manure in a 55-gallon bucket filled with water left for 3 days. I use 1/4 tea to 3/4 water and water everything with this shrubs, flowers and trees. Especially vegetables weekly. I refill the bucket with water after using and always keep the cover on when not in use.

I use a liquid mix-in-the-watering-can fertilizer every 2 weeks on plants in the ground and every week on plants in container and hanging baskets.

I've found that the 'big-name' (ie Miracle Grow, etc.) ferts are just not the same anymore, the nutrients just don't seem to be there. The nursery I work at has there own private label fert that is really high in nutrients and yields beautiful results. (I have to stock up on some before the move south!) You may want to check out some smaller nurseries in your area and see what you can find.

I had bought some type of boxed fertilizer and is trying that one out, and my dad has all kinds of fertilizer for the coffee trees and other plants here along with chicken manure which works good on our plants-but don't like the smell of it and don't go close to it either. Thank you for the tips.

When I'm feeling productive, I fertilize with Alaska Fish Fertilizer. Mix the stinky slimy sludge into a Miracle Grow feeder and hook it to the hose. Mostly, I don't fertilize because I just don't think about it. Thanks for the reminder!
