Does anyone know if the POR has a ferry to one of the resorts or Downtown Disney. I sort of remembered that the last time we were there? Is there a schedule?

The ferry goes to POR-FQ and to Downtown Disney. I remember they were fairly frequent, but don't have a schedule.

Thanks... we'll be sure to inquire about it when we arrive. Do you remember how long the ferry is? Is it easier to take the bus.

Just go down to the dock and u won't have a very long wait and when u are at DTD just return to the dock and CM will help u

It's a pretty small boat, not a big ferry.

Around 9 a.m., it starts shuttling just between the 2 Port Orleans resorts (it starts at POR). They run about every 20 minutes.

Around 11 a.m., the boat starts service to Downtown Disney. It starts at POR, then stops at POFQ, then goes to Downtown Disney Marketplace (near Capt. Jack's and Rainforest Cafe), then goes back to POFQ and then finally POR. They run about every 10 minutes. They make the last run from DTD around 11 p.m.

The boats don't run in bad weather.

The bus is always an option. It is probably the quicker of the two options, but the boat ride is pleasant, a nice and quaint little change from using a bus.

Unlike the usual bus system at the Port Orleans resorts, the DTD bus starts at POR and goes to POFQ second, before heading to DTD.

We used the boat in Feb.... it seemed to take us a VERY long time. Needless to say, we took the bus back :)

although, it was nice to have an option that the other moderates don't have.
OMG.... I'm still thinking about the pasta dish in the food court!!!yum:banana:

Thanks for everyone's input!

DW and DS are going into Downtown Disney while DD, youngest DS, and I do laundry and chill out at the pool one day before the MNSSHP

@justplaingoofy - I love pasta! I'll have to check that dish out for lunch!!! Is it at the Riverside Mill?

I actually thought the boat was a little faster going to DTD. There are time when the buses seem to take a long time to even arrive at POR. Once they arrive it's a pretty quick trip to DTD.

The boats did not start to run until 11am two weeks ago. It used to start earlier but not this past trip. Not sure why, but it was posted on a sign before walking down the walkway (which was roped off till they opened, unlike in the past as well).

Then they ran about every 20/30 minutes or so.

The ride to DTD is about 30 lovely relaxing minutes. We choose it over the bus every time.
The captain gave everyone Pirate bandana's or a pin on one trip, what a Great surprise THAT was!!

The boat at DTD takes you over to the pleasure Island side as well...then there is a boat over to Saratoga Springs as well..........

Have a great trip!!

sorry to get off topic here.... I would highly recommend splitting (if you guys can agree)... it is HUGE! We got this twice, then had a couple of credits left from our ddp so we got a couple to go (we were visiting with my mil,fil in Florida for a few days after). One night we heated the 2 up between the 4 of us! My husband is Italian and my husband will not eat at an Olive Garden, but he loved this!
-You pick your type of pasta (we did penne)
-You pick your sauce (we did alfredo)
-Pick either chicken or shrimp (we did shrimp) 1st time dh got chicken which was good, but was dark meat (not a fan of it)
-Then they had some other "fixins" such as mushrooms, etc... and they ask you if you want parmesan cheese & top it off with garlic bread!!!!:woohoo:

I have had some really fun times on the water taxi (they actually refer to it as a water taxi, not a ferry boat).

One year, there was a lady captain, who decided to veer over quickly by the golf course, to see if we could spot a croc. Unfortunately, it was at the exact time the sprinklers came around and we all got soaked on one side. Luckily we were on our way back - we were in hysterics the entire way home.

One year, there was a guy captain, and he comes into the marina where you pull forward and then he was supposed to back into the pier. He pretended that the boat was getting away from him, and he was saying, "whoa, I don't think I am going to make it!" About four people left the pier and decided to take other transportation. It was funny too.

One year, when I was by myself, I met a delightful couple from PA, near where I live. I commented I was on my way over to watch a football game and have dinner at the bar at the Rainforest Cafe. They were early for their dinner ressies, and decided to stop and have a drink with me. Later, when I returned from to POR, they were in the lounge and invited me for a nightcap. It was awesome.
