Ferris' Step up for Down Syndrome Walk

If you are friends with me on facebook then you've probably already received an invite to Ferris' Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk, so this is for all you non-facebookers.

Join Ferris' Funky Bunch on a one-mile walk around Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

Come out and enjoy a festival atmosphere with games, music, food, and exhibitors - all for a great cause. The goal is to promote acceptance and inclusion; to raise funds necessary to develop innovative and effective programs locally; and to enable us to positively influence disability policy.

Ferris' Funky Bunch will have its own tent setup with snacks and refreshments for all that show up to walk with us. Also, if you are able to walk with us you'll receive an awesomely designed Ferris’ Funky Bunch team shirt (designed by yours truly), so please register at the link below.

We know many of you live out of town and are unable to make it to Orlando for the walk, but we’re asking everyone to at least make a small donation. Every little bit helps to reach and surpass our fundraising goal!

All donations will support the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida, which provides education, resources and support to people with Down Syndrome and their families in partnership with individuals, families, professionals, and the community.

Unfortunately, Val & I are going to miss this event since we're leaving WDW on the Monday before after being there for 11 days. I promise that we will join you next year though. You can be sure a donation is on the way.

I have great memories of my grandmother and myself going to the library downtown and walking around Eola. Granny was a great finder of the shady spots to keep the car as cool as possible.

As a former volunteer care-worker for young adults with learning difficulties, including a few with Downs Syndrome - I am so happy to see community events like this! I'm definitely in (registered & everything.) Look forward to seeing folks there!

I know i am responding to an old post but wanted to comment on your adorable son!
My daughter gave birth in December 2011 to a beautiful down syndrome little girl. As the grandmother, I am trying to learn everything I can about down syndrome. We love her so much and am so thankful that she was born with a healthy heart. She did have a cleft lip but has already has surgery to repair this.
I hope to be going on my first walk soon to support this wonderful society.
