For our upcoming twosome trip, DH and I have booked a standard king room at the HoJo. We have only taken one trip without any kiddos prior to this, and that was three and a half years ago. We had a king at the HoJo then as well, but that was before any of the real refurbing had taken place. I have seen a mix of pictures online, and there seems to be a big difference in how these rooms are set up. My question is, can anyone who has stayed in a king room in building one suggest a particular room to request? Or one to avoid? ;) I am hoping not to end up in a worn-out room. :goodvibes

The room we had the first time was at the top directly above the freeway, and was as loud as can be. That didn't bother us too much, so it's not a factor.

I think they have now finished remodeling all the rooms. I stayed in a freeway facing remodeled room last time (November) and I never heard the freeway at all. It was great.

I will be staying in a standard king for my trip next week also (3/26-3/30). I will let you know how that goes but I think you will be pleased with any room you get. :thumbsup2

I was in a king in Building 1 facing the freeway 2 weeks ago and next to the elevator. I couldn't hear anything. They've put a double glass door on the outside that cuts down on noise.

My brother stayed in a standard king room on the top floor. It was really neat because of the skylights and all. I too noticed the noise, but it didn't bother them at all, since they live in an apt in the middle of downtown Denver. They loved it! I'm sure the noise level is much lower now, so that's a real plus! Have fun!

Do all the buildings have skylights on the top floor rooms?

I can only say for sure that the rooms on the top floor of building one have the high windows. We've only stayed in buildings one and two, and when in two our room was on the first floor.

We just made reservations there for late June for 4 nights. We used the Mousesavers.com link. Is it as close to the parks as they say? We've never been to DL, as we are WDW vets. This will probably our only chance to see DL for a long, long, long time (if ever again). Compared to all the other hotels in walking distance, for the price, this seemed perfect for us with two young kids.

No, they do not. Building 2 does not have skylights on the top floor. We enjoy the skylights, but not everyone does...

As far as the remodeling, we stayed in building 4 in November and it was definitely not renovated. In fact, it was the most disappointing room we have ever had at HOJO's. However, it was very clean, and the beds were ok. And for the Entertainment Rate of $59/night, we couldn't really complain.

Having stayed in all the buildings, I will say that from now on we will choose Building 2 for any future visits.

It is close: about a 7-8 minute walk to security in the morning. I say in the morning because it does take a bit longer with tired legs in the evening. We love the HoJo, and do not feel the walk is too long. It might be worth considering how young your kids are; you may want to give yourself plenty of time in the mornings so that you can walk slowly and not wear them down early, if they are old enough to not be in a stroller but young enough to have little legs. :goodvibes

The best walking route, according to most on these boards and in my opinion as well, is to cross Harbor Blvd at the corner of Manchester and walk opposite the main strip. You can turn right directly after the bus stop to enter the plaza, and cut some time off. It really is a quick and simple walk.

We stayed in a standard king on the top floor March 8th to March 13th. We looooved the skylights. It made the room feel much larger. Next time we have the chance to visit Disneyland we plan on specifically requesting a room with skylights. I'm. At work at the moment but once I'm home, I'll upload the three pics I took of the room. :)

I would add...if you have small kids, older folks, anyone with health issues, a cab ride is around $5. I haven't been for awhile, but last time we went you could do the monorail or walk to the Disneyland Hotel and catch a cab back from there.

Having that option at the end of the day might help.

Thank you. Would you consider any of the other hotels like the Days inn, travelodge, or Super 8 instead to save some money? or is the HoJo that much better for the price?

Hi everyone! All of our buildings, except building 2, have skylights on the top floor. These are definitely a hit or miss with our guests. Some like the skylights to make it feel like they have more room; others prefer a different room because they do not like the sun shining through in the morning or when their kids have to take a nap. If you have a request for a specific type of room, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate it for you. We have added a second sliding glass door to the rooms facing the highway to sound proof these rooms, because of the skylights we are still working on sound proofing the top floor. I’ll keep you updated :goodvibes

Hope this helps!

Ty for info I soooooo wanted to stay there but just not in my budget this time :(

Update:
Currently in a king room facing the freeway. No freeway noise at all. I love this place. I will definitely be staying here every time I come to Disneyland. After trying a few hotels on Harbor, this is my second time at to Hojo and it will always be my first choice. Retro rates ftw!!!!
