Fellow FL Res. How are you faring with the weather??

The eye has come ashore down near Port Charlotte so it has made landfall..............I really feel for those people down there, although I am grateful after spending 2 full days worrying that it was going to hit my area Tampa/St. Pete. Looks like it is heading towards the Orlando area, but from what I have heard it should die down considerably other than alot of rain. So far we have had a little rain but no strong winds.........TV stations are still on no stop in this area, in case for some reason it decides to take another turn, A hurricane is dangerous enough when it hits anywhere but this area is so populated and so coastal that it would really have been devastating.
So thanks for all the pixie dust, I think it worked down here!

The upper-left quadrant of the storm is starting to pass over us. The eye is quite a bit to our east....

We just have frequent gusts and rain, but nothing "too" scary.

I'll be glad when it's passed...

Wow, they're just reporting that a roof has come off of one of the shelters in Arcadia!!

Just saw there is a tornado warning for Orange, S Lake and NW Osceola until 745pm. Please stay alert.

Prayers for all of you down there in Florida!!! Be safe!

I just wish it would hurry up and get here. We have been waiting and preparing all day. We just finished up dinner and I made a bunch of baked goods to last for a few days. I think it is almost to Kissimmee. And we are the only county in the area that is not under a tornado warning. Boy, I wish we would of headed to Georgia, next time I will trust my instincts.

Good luck to all Central Floridians. My prayers are with all of you.

The eye is currently about 40 miles southwest of us and we are getting blinding rains and 50 plus mile an hour winds.

Here's a quick update: electricity went out around 8:00pm just west of Disney where we are. The wind is still whipping! We heard trees break and fall outside, and the windows and screens are banging and making a racket. The palm trees are bent over. They are saying that wind gusts at MCO are around 105mph. Apparently WDW still has electricity- Epcot's webcam on weatherbug still shows lights on.

The eye has broken up according to the radio. So, there is no relief until the whole thing is gone. We are lucky to have laptops and internet that is still working. Rain so far today at the Swan and Dolphin has been 14 inches and no sign of it letting up anytime soon!

I'm so happy I collect Yankee Candles. We have them lit all over the place and it feels like the lights are on. It smells good too! IT is getting really steamy and warm in here though, and no AC! I really really hope that the electricity comes back on by the time it gets warm tomorrow! YUK!

We are supposedly through the worst of it! I'm anxious to see tomorrow what kind of damage has been done!

Hang tight, everyone!
:(

Our famliy is snug in our living room watching the opening ceremonies and checking the weather channel every few minutes. Everyone says to keep safe and our best wishes and PD are on their way to you.

(P.S. It is 54 degrees here tonight. )

Weather is beginning to get intermittently nasty. Bands of thunderstorms coming through.

We will feel the full brunt of the eye core about 2 a.m.

Funny thing is, the local weather says that ares 25 miles northwest of us have probably seen the worst already.

Tricky thing, this weather prediction stuff.

I'm working at the fire station tonight.

And tomorrow.

We survived! We got our electricity back this afternoon, as well as our phone!! It has been a VERY long weekend. The storm was really, really spooky, and even scarier when the sun came out Saturday morning and we saw what it had done. Our area didn't get hit too badly, but about 20 minutes south and 20 minutes east of us got it really, REALLY bad! There are several friends I can't get in touch with!

We are very, very thankful that the storm spared us, and for all of the help coming in. The streets have just been lined with power crews from other states- Louisiana, Mississippi, Michigan, Ohio!!! It is really overwhelming! There were a bunch of electric workers in Cracker Barrell this morning, their trucks parked outside. They slept there! I just wanted to hug each and every one of them for working so hard for all of us!

WDW is okay. Animal Kingdom needed to be closed yesterday, and Typhoon Lagoon is still closed due to tree damage. Disney had crews ready to restore power and clean up, and opened yesterday.

I hope all our other DIS friends here in Central Florida are okay!!!!
