Hi all! I have a golden retriever that goes everywhere with us, including the fort. I have fell in love with a rescue dog and am trying to factor in every cost of having two large dogs. My question is, does the fort charge $5.00 per night, per pet? Will I now be paying $10.00 per night? Thanks in advance.:)

They have always charged us $5.00 per day and they always see our carload of dogs..

I have 2 Golden know and on the weekend they go every where with me too. I had 1 large border collie and a Golden then last year I saw an adorable Golden Retriever rescue and I couldn't pass him up. There are so many good dogs out there that need a home. I currently work with our local Golden Retriever Rescue ECGRR.com and foster which has been very rewarding for my heart and mind! Good Luck!

We brought our Beta fish with us one time (I had its bowl in a box on the front seat surrounded by newspaper so it wouldn't slosh). The CM at check-in asked if I had any pets, and then saw the fish bowl & asked me what that was. I replied, "Dinner!"

We brought 3 border collies with us last year, and 2 the two years prior, and we've only ever been charged $5/night.

Just read this article that you linked. All I have to say is $37.00 per night is crazy.

That means if I boarded all 3 of our dogs it would cost us about 50% more than our campsite! :scared1:

I always hated the idea that it cost just as much to board my dog as it was to pay for the site. On top of that, it was cheaper just to drive home (15miles away) than to pay the fee... It took time out of our fort days, but when we stayed at the fort, we weren't there for doing anything else.

And it's 5$ per night, doesn't matter how many pets you have.

Thanks for the replies....as you can see, I DID IT!!! The rescue thinks he is a golden retriever and Newfoundland mix. He's 8 weeks old and driving us all CRAZY!!!! I forgot how much work a new puppy is, but he's awfully cute!

Can you imagine having to send that little guy to the rescue?
Must be something about the name Stef. I'm assuming you are a female? Our daughter's name is also Stef, for short, and she has two rescues too. One is the Border Collie in my Avatar and the other is a Great Pyrenees. They are just the best dogs.

Aaaaawww! :lovestruc What a little cutie pie! Have fun with your new fur baby! :thumbsup2

My congrats to you for rescuing. We lost our Standard Poodle last October and in December we went to a rescue group in S. Carolina to look for a new furbaby. We found a brother/sister Labradoodle duo who had been dropped off the night before and only wanted the male. They were 2 years old and never apart---come home with both of them! It cost us $440 to board them during our 9 day trip to Disney in April! Double the cost for grooming too, but they are worth every dime and are wonderful companions.
