Fellow DISigners: Need Some Good Wishes and Pixie Dust...I Passed (Post#14)!

As many of you know, in my non-Disney life I have been trying to finish my doctoral dissertation while being a full-time Mom to two active little boys. It hasn't been easy, but one week from today I will finally be defending my dissertation. If you happen to think of it, please send some good vibes and Pixie Dust my way next Thursday (5/10)!

Good luck. Hopefully you did the most important thing for a successful dissertation defense already....pick a good committee. I think this is singlehandedly the most important thing. Remember they want you to succeed. While they will hold you to a high standard...ultimately they want you to do well. It reflects poorly on them too if you don't.

Take a bottle of water, a pen and paper. Write questions down so you make sure you answer them. Keep your answers short and to the point. They will ask follow up questions if they need to. Don't let silence force you to keep talking. Be ok with silence.

Its been 14 years since I defended my dissertation...and while I am glad its behind me, it wasn't as bad as I pysched myself up for!

Thanks everyone for the support and the advice. I set aside my own work when my boys were born so that I could give them my undivided attention, so finally finishing this Ph. D. is really important to me. Mel, I teared up a bit when I saw your DISign. I LOVE my Creative DISign Forum family!!

Mel, what an awesome design...Trudie, you can do it as you have been working on this for a long time. I have a few friends and several family members who now have their doctorate and they all did well...once you deliver it, go and have a cup of coffee and just chill out for an hour or so. Take the kids for ice cream
