...when I got hit by a truck.

On October 25th I was in a very serious car accident. I won't go into too many details, but basically someone ran a red light going about 55 - 60 miles per hour and hit me. They were in a substantial pickup truck whereas I was in a nissan maxima. Thankfully, the maxima is a darn sturdy car and took the brunt of the damage (getting totaled in the process). I was extremely lucky and walked away with no major injuries, not even minor whiplash. I was covered in purple-black bruises and several cuts and scrapes but there will be no long term injuries to contend with.

However, this has been a major set back in my life. Emotionally I was a wreck for 2 weeks after. Im also a 3rd year university student with a very heavy courseload in English and History. It put me behind in my studies and into a very distracted mental state.

I'm feeling much better now, nearly 3 weeks after my accident. Although im dismayed to discover than any weightloss progress I had made before the accident has been sent back to square 1. I've not worked out or watched what I've been eating and I'm suffering with the consequences.

But....

I'm ready to get back on that wagon :)

I have 5 weeks until Christmas and my goal is to lose 10 lbs by that time.

I will not deprive myself of the foods I adore over the holidays, though I will be working to maintain my weight loss.

Come January 4th (back to school) I will be shooting for another 10lb loss by Feb 8th. Then 10 more by March 15th, 10 more by april 19th and my last 10 by May 15th - the day I leave for my May WDW Vacation.

It is an ambitious goal, 50lbs in 24 weeks, however it works out to a healthy loss of about 2 lbs per week.

Just wanted to officially get my gameplan in writing. Thanks for reading :goodvibes

So sorry to hear about your accident. You must have been scared half to death. You're so fortunate to have not sustained serious injuries. I can certainly see where you'd get sidetracked with your goals. You seem to have a great attitude and I'm certain you'll be back to your old self soon. Just take care of yourself and don't over it. We're all rooting for you! :cheer2:

Accidents can really put a spin on your daily living...in all aspects...I'm so thankful that you survived without severe injury. But, a jolt like that can give your body a shock...I bet you'll be surprised how quickly you can turn around the losing machine, though. You'd have to eat alot to really pack on the pounds in that short a period....the scale is probably more reflective of your body's response to junk eating (fast foods, chips, candy, sodas) all will make you retain water...high sodium/high fat/high sugar will make the scale go up and you bloat a bit...I bet with just a few days of salads/water/good proteins and veggies/fruits you'll see a nice loss...then get back on plan and stick to a lower calorie day and try to slowly get into some physical activity...your back/joints could be swollen with such a big jolt...I know, I was the third car in a 5 car pile-up where everyone was traveling 60 mph and the first car hit a dead stop...no one had time to brake...I hate to even think of it now...but you will feel better and feel more confident driving...it just takes time.

YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!

Glad you are ok and that you are back.

I'm wondering how you are progressing. You have set some big weight loss goals and I am hoping you are moving toward them as you WISHed.

Keep on keepin' on. You can do it!

I am glad to hear that you are doing OK. You are really focused now and sounds like you have a good plan going. You can do this and still enjoy the holiday's. I'm right there with you in not depriving myself of certain foods that I just love this time of year, I just won't be going overboard with them.
