My DW has terrible trouble with shoes (Don't all women! )
Whatever shoes she wears always give her blisters. That includes the most comfortable pair of slippers ever designed!
With the amount of walking we are going to have to do, does anyone have some suggestions on how to toughen her up:D
(She has loads of shoes that fitted her in the shop but don't when she got home:rolleyes: )
Please help.

HI HARRYHORNET.
HARRY THE SPIDER HERE!!:p
THE ONLY SUGGESTION I CAN GIVE YOU FOR WIFEY'S COMFORT IS FOR HER TO WEAR HER MOST COMFY PAIR OF SHOES NO MATTER WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE OR HOW OLD THEY ARE.
I ALWAYS WEAR MY OLD TRAINERS AND NEVER CONSIDER BUYING NEW SHOES FOR MY HOLS:smooth:
THERE IS NOTHING WORSE THAN PAINFUL FEET WHEN YOU ARE ENJOYING YOURSELF AND TRYING TO GRIN AND BEAR IT:mad: :(
I SUPPOSE WEARING PLASTERS WHERE THE BLISTERS TEND TO APPEAR BEFORE THEY HAVE A CHANCE TO COME UP IS A SUGGESTION.
SORRY I HAVEN'T BEEN THAT MUCH OF A HELP

I would also recommend sandals or trainers that have been worn in - I like Springers sandals. They are very comfortable for the soles of your feet and you can also buy styles that have adjustable velcro behind the heel and across the top.

I would suggest she wears them at home - or close to home - and note any parts of her feet that start to rub. Then wear plasters on those spots and continue to wear the shoes in.

If she much prefers trainers, then I'd suggest taking fresh cotton socks to the parks to change into as well as a supply of plasters. You can also buy a handbag size foot spray from Scholl to soothe and cool the feet.

I've found that "walking" trainers are the best for dealing with the rigors of hours round the parks. I usually get a new pair each visit ( and wear them out at home after). They are designed to give gentle support in the areas needed and I'm usually blister free. Granted it isn't "high fashion" but I think most of us would trade that for feet that don't feel like the England Rugby team have been tap dancing on them for an hour :D

Nice pair of lightweight trainers for me. Hardly know you've got them on, and as the cushion the foot all round I don't get blisters or anything like that.

Jane and I often play a game of "spot the most inappropriate footwear" when in the parks. Most people seem to have got it sussed, but occasionally you find somebody (normally of the female variety) clipping along in a pair of heels or jumbo fashion trainers with 5 inch thick soles. It makes us laugh.

Regards

Rob

hh, I've never bought a new pair of shoes, trainers or sandals (and, yes, even slippers!) that don't rub. Same problem when I first start to wear a pair which I haven't worn for a while. The trick is to persevere, wearing plasters on the trigger points until your feet get used to them.

hh, again trainers are the best. I unfortunately have a condition on the bottoms of my feet which makes walking a pain normally, let alone all the way around those parks. Comfortable trainers with squidgy insoles are the best.

For any blisters, get "mole skin" plasters - it really does help. You can even get it over here now in Boots, or something similar. they stay on your blisters much better than normal plasters and I think help with the healing process:D

WHEN I WENT TO FLORIDA LAST YEAR, I SUFFERED FROM THE MOTHER OF ALL BLISTERS ON MY BIG TOE AND BOUGHT MOLE SKIN PLASTERS- THEY REALLY ARE GOOD.

With regard to plasters I believe you can also get plasters which are designed for blisters, sort of cushioned gell-filled things, which may also help.

Definitly your most comfy shoes/trainers and wear whatever plasters from the start.

Good luck!

I was advised to get the Springer Sandals and they are excellent.
My other big tip would be to take a few pairs of comfy shoes and wear different shoes each day.
I also keep a pair of sandals in the car - not one's I would wear around the parks, just some flat slip ons, but it's so wonderful to just take off your hot sweaty shoes and put on a fresh cool pair.

hi everyone

When I was out there last year I got some of the gel-filled plasters that neo's white rabbit is on about I got them in eckerd on international drive they were BRILL!!!

You leave them on as long as you can, I got myself 2 boxes of them but only needed 1 pair plus they don't start peeling off after a few days and they stay clean(I went to a water park and they did'nt come off). To get them off I spent 2hours in the bath peeling them off. Plus the shoes that gave me the blisters in the start I wore them all holiday!

THEY WORK

maybe to much info but they are good.

2000 all star moives
2001 ramada international drive
2002 country inn international drive/ bell view clearwater
2003 holiday inn universal

plus just booked to go to new york for new years eve!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If DW has any particular areas on her feet where she's more prone to blisters, suggest she rubs Surgical Spirit on the areas for a few weeks before your trip - it should harden up the skin and make it less likely to blister.

This is an old remedy used by ballet dancers to 'harden up' their feet in preparation for pointe work. You learn something new every day.....

Reiker sandals and or shoes. dead expensive £50 ish but the ONLY footwear that I have ever had that dont rub/hurt. I've converted most of my friends and relatives on to them!

Hi all ,

Just another suggestion. Alot of runners wear socks which have a double layer. They come under the name of "twin skin" or "thousand mile " socks and some others. 1000 mile socks guarantee no blisters or your money back!

Any good sports shop will be able to assist you.

Hope this helps.

Rick.

I always wear trainers that I have been wearing at home. And for sandals I usually get a pair of M&S footglove sandals.
I always buy the blister socks from there too.

Rob - have you seen ZURG's site?

Bad Shoe

Isn't that site for those with unusual interests, if you follow.

Having said that, my daughter lost her sandal from one of the trams. Her mother was not amused, particularly when security told her she wouldn't be able to fetch it. Now you don't give my wife instructions like that and get away with it. After several minutes of "advise" from my wife she was allowed to go get it. When she got back the security person had mysteriously gone on a break !
