I just got back from 3 days at GCV and 11 days at Aulani. Out of curiousity, I went out to check what the rooms would have cost me if I had paid cash as regular person. Obviously I couldn't check the same dates, so I used a future month in the same season as when I went, and I used the Disney website to price it out.
I couldn't figure out how to price a GCV studio, so I just used the regular room rate with my themepark view:
$2029 (includes tax)
I was able to price the DVC part of Aulani, but could only get a price for an ocean view studio, not a pool view one like I had:
$7007 (includes tax)
Total: $9036
I know that OV commands a higher price than PV, but even if I knock $1000 off for that difference, I'm still at almost $8000 on the rooms alone! (Not even taking into account the $35 a day I saved on parking at Aulani by being a DVC member.)
Granted, I did use about a 1.5 years worth of points for this vacation, but I still think I got a real bargain when I bought into DVC!!!
