Trip is in a few weeks and with Ivan now on the horizon I just feel odd about the whole vacation thing. I just read an article and it mentioned a woman with four kids who was upset she couldn't get milk or anything good for them to eat and here we'll be driving down I-75 to go to WDW for fun?!? Plus, she lost the roof on her home!

Is what I'm saying making sense?

Not to mention my mommy instincts are kicking in and I'm starting to worry about leaving my girls. For one cause I've never left my youngest and for two the whole hurricanes one after another is freaking me out.

I've already borrowed the points, already bought our MNSSHP tickets... It is a go! I just feel rather odd about it all right now.

you can't heal the world - not your job -

this is by far the worst hurricane season EVER for Florida - it has got to get better sometime.

the way DVD constructed the DVC resorts - I think they can stand up to the winds - the flooding - might be different.

You are going to Mickey's Halloween Party without your kids......

do they know?????

our job is to help our brothers and sisters - not to give up our lives (fun) for them.

If a break will help you cope and I think it will - go to WDW and have a blast....

I understand what you mean.

But, one way to look at it is this....if your safety is not an issue, and I don't think it will be in Oct. , your trip will be helping out a lot of FL business. Financially, they got hit pretty hard, what with all the cancellations. I forget the exact number but millions of dollars in revenue from what is normally a very busy holiday weekend were lost.

spiceycat, you're making me feel even more guilty! :p

Actually, I've told them I'm going to WDW alone with their Daddy for a break. My oldest at 6 is actually excited about staying with both her grandparents. My youngest at 3, I'm not too sure yet...

She is actually why hubby suggested this trip. She is a handful and I guess I look burned out?!?

go for it - they are too young to appreciate Halloween.....

I'm not sure, was that a joke? ;)

No, they appreciate Halloween. I know, cause we visited EVERY house in our neighborhood last year. :teeth:

Really, MNSSHP was a coincidence on the dates that worked for hubby's work. I wouldn't want to pull my oldest out of school.

I agree with the fact that you'll be helping out the FLA businesses...go and enjoy!

And as the mother of a 3 year old...well I have one thing to say about you leaving your child at home:

GO!!! Have much fun with your husband!!! And do not, under any circumstances begrudge yourself the treat...we are all better moms when we take care of ourselves, right?;)

And please - think of all of the other moms out here who'll be envying you having an extended DATE with your husband at WDW...!

(Ahhhh...romance at WDW. Takes me back to our honeymoon)

Enjoy Shan!!!

Oh and one more thing:

If you go to MNSSHP (which is outstanding fun, btw), you will know all the best things to see and do when you take your girls someday.

Rationalize? Yup! But still true...

:teeth:

((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))) It is hard to leave the kids... it is... but it really is wonderful too... there is nothing like eating when you want to eat, going potty alone, long showers, no baby swap......

But it is important, once your there, to have a great time.... and not waste the free time feeling guilty.

((((((((((hugs)))))))))))

We're so lucky to have a job, our health, our family, and a home!

Adding DVC seems to be the icing!

So I donated money today to the Red Cross, for the disaster fund. I hope that the Red Cross is a legit organization (I remember I used to give to another organization when I was younger {no names here for liability}, and then was disappointed to find out later it wasn't what I hoped it to be...)

I hope it helps, and it gets to the people who need it. If Ivan continues onto Florida, I"ll probably make another donation.

Godspeed to everyone,

Goldi
