Feeling Hot Hot Hot! The Rain Curse is Broken! Two Weeks of Fun in the Sun! COMPLETE

I missed a bunch of updates, but I'm caught up now!

I love your pics from F&G! I've never been inside the butterfly exhibit despite many times of visiting during F&G, I'm just afraid I'll see butterfly abuse and get all depressed. Either that or I'll get into a confrontation because I'll warn someone's "special snowflake" not to touch the butterflies. Either way, probably best I avoid the area.

There probably weren't many left in the exhibit because the rest of them had gone to the "great garden in the sky", even the live ones in your photos show evidence of being manhandled. :sad2:

I also agree with the bros about Tinkerbelle! I don't think she is very nice, and I never understood her popularity. She does not seem to have the Disney spirit.

Your pictures are lovely, they were such a nice treat to look at this morning, I just want to jump inside and be back in Epcot! Thanks for posting.

I'm just loving all these pictures, even though there are A LOT, they are really very pretty. I love the ones in the un-opened World Showcase, especially the troll topiary :goodvibes

I definitely agree about Cars, like I like the movie, but it just hasn't really stood out to me next to movies like Finding Nemo, the Toy Story movies and Tangled, it was just not as good to me. Like you, I didn't feel the urge to go see the sequel, just no interest. :/

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

I guess I am lucky as I have not been exposed to very many parents and their "special snowflakes". I wouldn't have the patience to deal with it.

I suspect that you are correct in this assessment. I think many probably escaped out of the butterfly house as well as I saw many flying around the bushes outside.

 Seems there are many on the boards who don't care for her. I don't really care about her either way although I do love my Tinker Bell necklace. ;)

I wouldn't mind being back at Epcot right now either.

I am well known for taking and posting TONS of pictures.

Hi Lessa! Had a few extra minutes on a quiet morning to come a'visiitin'. I really loved your last update- you rocked an empty WS!! I LOVE photographing in WS any time of day, but you really scored! Hope you're well!

My favourite time to take pictures of World Showcase is in the late afternoon/evening as the sun is starting to go lower in the sky. The lighting on the buildings is beautiful.

I'd have to agree with you on Cars 2. I didn't even like the first one much so I guess that would make me not interesting in seeing the second. I've heard good things about Cars 2 though.

I noticed they sneaked parts of the huge Norway boat back into the pavilion. I never noticed that before. I wonder why they got rid of it in the first place :confused3

Nice WS/F&GF pictures. I can't wait to see the flowers again next year. Such a great time to visit.

I remember when the first Cars came out. I wasn't all that interested at first but the more I saw previews of it, the more I wanted to see it. It's actually a good movie (but then again, what Pixar movie isn't good?). You should see Cars 2 when it comes out on DVD. We all enjoyed it.

Erich told me that Cars 2 is pretty much its own movie and that it shouldn't be judged as a sequel. Said it wasn't like the first one at all.

The Norway boat, I heard it was removed originally because of wood rot. :confused3

I don't know what it is exactly about the first Cars movie but it irritates me and when I am not irritated by it I am bored by it. That being said, I will watch the second one once it is out on DVD. ;)

dont tell my son you dont like cars.

:duck::crutches:

:rotfl:

Playing catch up on your trip report. I love the pictures from the Flower and Garden Festival. The gardens are just so pretty.

I agree with you on Cars. I had no desire to see the new one in theaters and have only seen the first one a few times.

I'm glad I am not alone in my dislike of Cars. :thumbsup2

May 15th continued

Mom and I were on our way to the headquarters for Pixar Weekend. As we entered the right side of World Showcase we observed a marching band making its way towards us, they were coming from the direction of the International Gateway. I was very surprised as I have never heard of marching bands performing in Epcot!

Video: Marching Band

We had to pass by Canada on our way to our destination so of course I had to snap a few quick photos. ;)

We joined the line that had already begun to form outside the building where most of the Pixar Weekend activities were taking place. It was scheduled to open at 11am.

As we stood in line I couldn't help but overhear the conversation taking place behind me. It was obvious that the two people behind me were recently arrived college program cast members. They were also Canadian! As I innocently eavesdropped their conversation started to sound very familiar. They were talking about the universities they attended. The girl was talking about how she was going to be a Frosh Week leader (Orientation Week) in the fall. She then started to describe the activities that would take place and what was involved. I knew at that point that she had to be from my university! We have a very unique and distinctive frosh week at my university with many traditions that are part of our "school culture" so I was easily able to recognize it. During a break in their conversation I couldn't help but turn around and ask if she did indeed go to my university. She did indeed and we struck up a conversation while we waited for Pixar Central to open. It's A Small Small World! The other CM was also Canadian but he was a student at a school in Quebec. We talked about our school and Mom also asked them about the college program. They had just started so they didn't have much to say on that other than where they worked.

We didn't talk for long as soon the gates were opened and we were allowed to walk down the red carpet and enter the building. Each side of the carpet was lined with giant poster boards which highlighted fun facts about each of the Pixar films. Mom and I didn't stop to look at those right away though as we wanted to hurry into the building for pictures.

There were several options once inside and we knew we only had time for one as the lines quickly formed and were long and we had to meet Alek and Erich in less than half an hour. The options were: Up, Monsters Inc, Toy Story, Cars. I may be forgetting one other set of characters but I think that is all that were in there. The backdrops they had set-up were cool. For Up they had the house as a backdrop. I made the executive decision to get in line for Toy Story. We already had our picture taken with the Up characters a few years ago, wasn't interested in the Cars characters, would have been nice to get a picture with Boo from Monsters Inc but she was paired with Sully and you can see him anytime. Toy Story featured Mr. Potato Head and Lotso, two characters I would probably never see again so that is where I was headed.

We waited in line for 10 minutes and then our turn was up.

I was a little afraid that this would turn into a repeat of the Remy incident from 2007 once Alek and Erich found out that we saw the characters without them but turns out they didn't care all that much, crisis averted! :thumbsup2

Funny thing about Lotso, in the movie he is this terrible awful character but in the parks and in the merchandising he is a lovable huggable bear? :confused3

After we got our photo I eyeballed the other character lines but they were too long, oh well! Would have been nice to get the Boo picture since she is never out for meet and greets but we just didn't have the time to wait in that line.

Mom I headed back outside to check out the displays I had mentioned earlier.

I posted the poster boards in a large size further down the page if you are interested in reading them.

It was very interesting reading all the posters. I found out lots of cool things about the movies that I never knew or noticed before. Of course when I told Alek and Erich some of the stuff that I read they looked at me like I was an idiot for not knowing this stuff already. Excuse me! :snooty: I guess I am not that discerning of a movie watcher since I did not know that Sid (evil kid from Toy Story) made an appearance in Toy Story 3 as the garbage collector!

Apparently there were also talks given at this location by various Pixar people. You needed a ticket to get into these events, don't know how or where you got a ticket, oh well, wasn't that interested in going to the talks anyways.

Mom and I now needed to meet up with Alek and Erich for our lunch ADR. Good thing too as I was getting hungry!

Apparently I'm not that discerning either, because I didn't catch the Sid thing either!

I admit, I met Lottso and thought it was strange that they're marketing him as a nice bear too. Maybe because he's cute and smells like strawberries? ;)

How cool that you met someone that attended the same University as you. You're right, it's a very small world.

Great update, Lessa. I have yet to see Toy Story 2 or 3. We're going to try and do those one of these weekends before our trip.

But the pictures of you and Mom with Lotso and Mr. Potato Head are awesome. Glad your brothers weren't upset this time that they were NOT there for the pictures.

 It was neat to see all the little things in the films that I had never noticed before.

 It is indeed strange. I guess he is getting the Tinker Bell treatment. ;) A not so nice character turned into a cute and lovable character.

It was pretty cool especially as it is not a very big university when compared to the size of some schools in the State. The chances of a run-in like that were pretty small!

 Yeah, it was definitely a good thing, we get cranky enough on our own without the added drama of missing out on a character photo! ;)

Very interesting update on Pixar weekends! I never knew that Sid was the garbage collector! I'll keep a closer eye next time I watch that movie. I'd love to see the posters in a bigger size :goodvibes

Wow! Those are bigger than my screen here at work! :rotfl2: I'll have to look at them when I get home on my mac that has a higher screen resolution
