Feeling a little snubbed.

I'm going to stick up for the OP and agree that, while it's okay to not invite everyone from work, it is not okay to just skip inviting ONE person. Obviously the rest of the office thought everyone was invited and didn't realize the OP hadn't been or (I'm assuming since they're adults) they wouldn't have been discussing it. At the very least, give your friends a heads up that you didn't invite everyone from work.

I'll get back on my DIS pet peeve of giving everyone the benefit of the doubt and say I assume the OP hasn't told her IRL that she stinks and that she has a perfectly pleasant relationship with her.

It's sort of like coming on the DIS and posting a thread that says "everyone welcome here, except Disykat, whom I don't like very much."

So just because some may not have attended an event no one is allowed to discuss it? :confused3

There's no reason that they shouldn't talk about the event, they just should try not to talk about it in front of the OP. Typically it is considered rude to talk about an event in front of someone who isn't/wasn't invited. At least, if there is any expectation that they might have been. So if your daughter is getting married and there's no reason for the people you work with to think they would be invited to the wedding, there's nothing wrong with talking about it to them. But if you are having an event for your coworkers and excluding one, you really shouldn't talk about it in front of that person. However, that really only applies if the people talking about it know that the other person wasn't invited. As another poster mentioned, it is entirely possible that some of them thought the OP had been invited and just declined. If they knew she was not invited, then it was really in poor taste for them to talk about it in front of her since it is reasonable to expect that doing so would cause her to feel excluded.
