I feel like I read a thread with answers to my questions once but I can't find it!

Since the WDW buses don't go between resorts and they stop running an hour after the park closes, what's the best way to get to AKL from my late dinner reservation at 'Ohana and Artist Point?

'Ohaha - my ADR is at 6:55 but then we will watch the water pagent from the Poly beach at 9:00. MK closes at 8:00 p.m. so the buses should stop running at 9:00. Otherwise I'd take the monorail to MK and catch a bus to AKL from there? Is my only other option to take a bus from the Poly to DTD and then take a bus from there to AKL?

Artist Point - my ADR is 8:10. Again the MK closes at 8:00 buses stop at 9:00or else I'd take the boat to MK and then a bus to AKL. Again, is my only option to take the bus from WL to DTD and then from there to AKL?

Or we could always get a taxi I suppose...any other options?

If another park is open late enough you can use that park as a transfer point, but otherwise your only option using Disney transportation is to take a bus to DTD and transfer there. That trip probably will wind up taking more than an hour, so a cab definitely will be much more efficient. A cab trip is likely 15-20 minutes and you should expect to spend $15 or so plus tip to get to AKL from the Poly.

7.2 mi. would be around $20 + tip.

Bus trip should be right around an hour, with average wait times; could be 20 minutes longer with unlucky max wait times.

So the taxi will probably be our mode of transportation those nights! Can the front desk at the hotels call a cab for us?

I wish WDW would eventually offer some bus service between hotels. I'm sure it must not be a financially sound option for them...

You could also take the monorail from the resort to the TTC and transfer to the Epcot monorail and get a bus to AKL from there.

Well we might be able to do that on the night of our 'Ohana dinner but it'd be cutting it close. Epcot closes at 9:00 so buses will stop running at 10:00. If we stay and watch the electric water pageant we won't be leaving the Poly until closer to 9:30 (by the time we watch the pageant and get from the beach to the monorail). That would give us 30 mins to get to the TTC to transfer to the Epcot monorail and then to the buses at Epcot...that could be possible but tight.

For the night we have dinner at Artist Point I don't think we'd make it. We have an ADR at 8:10 and I'm assuming that will be a nice slower dinner. Let's say we get out of there at 9:30 even then we'd have 30 minutes to get from WL to Epcot. Although that might be possible as well...

I can't remember but the buses at Epcot are pretty close to where the monoral drops off isn't it?

Epcot monorail closes 1 hour after Epcot. You could probably walk from Poly to TTC before the Epcot monorail closes. The resort monorail may not be running more than 1 hour after MK closes.

Buses from Epcot to the resorts should still be running more than an hour after Epcot close. It takes longer than that for guests with late dining reservations to all exit the park. Worst case, if you arrive at Epcot and the bus area is deserted (highly unlikely), call a taxi at 407-422-2222. There are pay phones all over the place, if you don't have a cell phone with free roaming.

From WL, you probably will not be able to get on a bus to Epcot after Epcot closing time. Unless one of the parks has evening EMH, a taxi or the DTD bus are your only options.

Extremely helpful!!!! Thanks :thumbsup2

The bus area is pretty close. We ran through the rain from our bus to the monorail station and I remember feeling relieved that it wasn't a longer distance. :rotfl:

Glad it was a short run for you ;) and that makes me think we might have luck going to Epcot to catch bus...at least one night anyway!

Definitely check which parks have EMH on those nights or are open later. Personally, I would not do a DTD transfer after a nice dinner. Nothing a like long bus rides to ruin a nice dinner. Plan to take a cab.

And while they say the busses run until one hour after the park closes, I think in some cases they may run later than that. For the night at the POLY, I would probably take the monorail to MK (if you could) and if the busses weren't running, just walk to CR and catch a cab from there.

So then do buses start an hour before the parks open? Or I read somewhere that there are character breakfast buses that start 30 mins before the earliest reservation...so 7:30 a.m.

Is that correct?
