Feedback on Concierge Level at AKL

I love AKL CL - my favorite so far (We've stayed CL at Poly, YC, WL, and AKL). But I agree with Ladyhawke about all of the positive posts --- it's all to easy to be disappointed if you don't take everything we say as our personal opinion/experience only....(For instance, we were there for our son's 4th birthday - and he didn't get a cake / balloons/ etc.......and we weren't expecting it - in fact, we were out celebrating his birthday all day - and he was sound asleep when we got back to the resort). I recently had "positive post disappointment" on our first Disney cruise , so I know what I'm talking about  .

I love the snackies that they have at AKL too - but I love a very wide variety of food ; and I can see how some people (like my dear in-laws) wouldn't appreciate lentils and plantains at all. I think the CMs are great too, love the quiet lounge (perfect to relax in while the boys (DH and DS) are napping. I also like the sunrise safari, and love the Wayanama safari....

About the African smoothie - it's not frunch --- I asked for the recipe - (haven't made it yet) - so here it is, straight from AKL CL......

Stayed concierge at AKL (3), Poly (2), BC(1), Swan (2), Dolphin (1) and at other locales on occasion (away from Disney).

AKL is by far the tops. The CM's are great (but typical of AKL in that they're not nearly as gregarious as other Disney Resorts). The food/beverage offerings way pass what could be expected (remember this isn't ever meant to be dinner substitution) and the lounge is totally relaxing - Unlike the Poly which was really nice but always a hubub.

For sure there are detractors and their experiences speak for themselves and need to be factored in. But in this case there are far more favorable reviews of The Kilamangaro Club than negatives.

I often think that expectations can be a little too high for these ervices and I think too many people equate the financial outlay with what they get. Concierge was never designed to give anyone a bargain and IMO bargain hunters have helped lower the quality of the experience (folks who take trays of goodies back to the room, folks who eat every meal at the lounge, etc.).

We were thinking of returning to AKL concierge for my son's 6th birthday this August (splitting a stay between AKL and Poly). I was thinking of faxing or calling them ahead of time and asking that they keep an eye on our reservation throughout our stay, so we don't have any risk of the corrupted reservation file issue again. It seems unlikely, of course, but I think it'd be good if special attention was paid so that ressies don't get lost and the like. It would make me feel more comfortable about staying there again, that's for sure. :wizard:

I loved this stuff...must have had five of them over the course of our stay.
