We have never been to one, but I am seriously considering moving our stay up 2 weekends. The one we would be attending is the VB one, we do own 150 points at this resort.

If you go to them, do you go primarily to be informed, or do you go with specific questions or to give input?

It means that we would be spending Friday and Saturday night in DVC, something we rarely would do, but I would be squeezing a weekend in between my Tuesday/Thursday teaching schedule, rather than waiting for the scheduled exams to be over. We are willing to spend the points.

Please tell me what you think about the meetings, and would you change your dates? I have just begun to book our stay, which was to begin on December 16th.

Thank you.

I say if you have never been it might be nice to go just to see what they are all about.

Basically they talk about the budget and stuff about the board but that is only about 5 minutes.

Then they have a Q&A session where you can ask questions about the budget and such. They also have a Q&A session to ask general DVC information too.

There is also an informational part of the meeting. This is where we learned about the dining plan, and sometimes specific info to your home resort. For example at the SSR meeting we learned about the Turf Club being a full service restaurant, we also learned they would be doing carriage rides.

Most of the info we did find out about here and such but it is still interesting to go and see who the board of directors are and what it is involved.

I've been to 2 in the few years since we joined. Both times there's been some neat "scoop" announced-in 12/2003 it was the pool slide, and in 11/2005 it was the dining plan. So it's kind of fun to wonder "what's going to be the announcement [if anything]?" Also, it's fun to listen to some of the questions/arguements/concerns by fellow members. I've got to admit that if I had an issue, I'd probably be reluctant to bring it up in an open forum like that. And also, it's nice to meet some fellow members and CMs. I doubt that I'd change my dates for the annual meeting, but I'd definitely make a point of being there if I was at WDW at that time. And if I was trying to decide which week around that time to go, that would definitely be a reason for me to pick that week.

We have attended several annual meetings over the years and have always enjoyed the experience- just getting to meet members of the Board of Directors and listen to the meeting itself. There is little opportunity for meaningful input from members, but we are given a chance to ask questions and make comments.

While I would encourage all members to attend if they have the chance, I would not urge anyone to make a special trip at attend one. If it's at a time convenient for your schedule definitely plan to attend. Many of those present live nearby or are already in the area for vacation plans.

The meetings have usually been at the end of November and first week of December. All except VB and HH are onsite at BW or BC. The off-site resorts have typically been a few days later right at those resorts, but this year it looks like they are in the middle of the dates for the WDW resort meetings.

Enjoy!
