fee for changing SouthWest reservations

I see in the small print of a Ding offer that, if there needs to be::

Any change to this reservation (flight, dates, cities, and/or names of passengers) once purchased may result in a fare increase. Standby travel requires an upgrade to the full unrestricted fare.

So my question is, does anyone know how much the fee would be? I'm thinking it may be worth getting this super deal for a ding that just came through, and pay to change the date. And that's because the ding only goes to June, and we are traveling in the fall.

Whatcha think??

There isn't a fee for switching your reservation. If you change your ressie to another that has a higher rate, you have to pay the difference. If you change your ressie to another that is cheaper, you get a credit with SWAs.

You cannot fly standby with a Ding fare. To fly standby, then you would have to pay the difference between your Ding fare ticket and the unrestricted ticket's price.

I would not bother to buy the Ding as boswellnakia pointed out you won't get the "great fare" when you fly this fall. You will get whatever the fare is at that time.

You will get full credit for any prior unused tickets and then you just pay the difference.

So for example, I just changed a ticket on SW. I bought a sale of $39 and the new one way was $132. I was charged the difference ($93)

Ahh! Thanks for letting me know. It's such a shame, I have NEVER seen the flights from Phila to Orlando this cheap! :worried:
Almost jusifies a quick trip! :rotfl: No I won't though, we did 2 trips there already in the summer, never again! Too hot!

Those cheap SW fares are great if you have an AP. Makes it hard to say no to an extra trip.

Thanks CarolA for catching that on me..I didn't catch the part about her wanting to fly this fall. You are definitely right, don't worry about it yet until the dates are released. No need to worry about it yet and if you should have to cancel the flight, the credit is only good from the original date of purchase which would be now if she bought the Ding currently...
Thanks again, sorry for not reading and digesting the whole post.

I know what you mean Kerlynne. I live in Connecticut [4 hour drive to Philadelphia] but I just could not resist $34 fare. I just got 4 tickets to fly out on 4/29 and come back on 5/8 and only paid $368.40 total.
